OBJECTIVE
Passionate, motivated individual seeking a Materials Science Engineering position. My long-term goal is to excel and become a well- rounded engineer.
EDUCATION
Bachelor of Science, Material Science & Engineering University of Irvine – Irvine, CA
Graduated June 2018
WORK AND LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE
Diversity Decorations June 2017 – September 2017
Intern Torrance, CA
§ Streamlined a project that increased efficiency enhancement to generate more than 10% improvement in the process flow.
§ Coordinated with project managers, warehouse supervisors, and shipping coordinators to execute process flow renovation.
§ Worked alongside the system implementation team to integrate a new database. PROJECTS
Wearable Acoustic Breast Tumor Sensor September 2018 – June 2018 Materials Lead
§ Created optimal phantom breasts with embedded faux tumors that mimics human skin tissue density and viscosity by 75%.
§ Investigated different insulation and backing materials to incorporate transducers and wiring within a wearable device. Improved current prototype by reducing signal attenuation by 30%.
§ Investigated failure modes of the device, effectively mitigated them, and streamlined a table organizing failure modes leading to improve workflow.
§ Managed weekly meetings with team members to meet quarterly goals and promoting teamwork. LAB EXPERIENCE
Advanced Polymers: March 2017 - June 2017
§ Synthesized Sol-gels utilizing different variables such as the curing temperature, time, and monomer concentration in order to characterize their effect on the material properties.
§ Examined and analyzed the material properties using different characterization techniques such as Contact Angle Measurements, Zeta potential, FTIR, XRD, DLS and SEM.
§ Performed Dynamic Mechanical Analysis to study the viscoelastic properties of Polyethylene samples with different molecular weights.
Microscopy and Failure Analysis: September 2016 – March 2017
§ Classified unknown materials by analyzing their crystal structures using XRD and matching the crystal structures to the known material database.
§ Operated SEM and obtained surface topography images using Backscattered Secondary Electrons, and Secondary Electrons.
§ Analyzed root cause of mechanical failure by monitoring the chemical composition of the known material using EDS. Mechanical Behavior/Design Principle: March 2016 – June 2016
§ Completed Charpy Impact tests on aluminum specimens processed at elevating temperatures to differentiate effects of temperature on alumina’s fracture toughness.
§ Conducted tensile tests correlating necking of aluminum samples cured at different temperatures to grain size using the Hall-Petch Relationship.
ORGANIZATIONS
Beta Theta Pi January 2015 – June 2018
Finance Chair
§ Created and managed quarterly budgets to streamlined fraternity flow.
§ Implemented a financing option for members who had difficulties meeting the weekly installments.
§ Developed a point system based on attendance by providing discounted membership dues, which increased overall chapter participation.
