RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
Temple University Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Stormwater management Project September 2016- December 2016
• Designed BMPs according to the PA BMP Manual
• Performed hydraulic and hydrologic modeling using TR55 and EPA SWMM
• Conducted surface runoff and water quality analysis
Geographic Information System Project January 2018- May 2018
• Collected and interpreted GIS data
• Created GIS mapping (e.g. thematic mapping, vector and raster maps) and demographic reports
• Performed data analysis within ArcGIS using SQL
National Science Foundation Water and Environmental Technology Center Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Graduate Research Assistant April 2014 –May 2018
• Investigated activated carbon (PAC, GAC) and polar and non-polar ion exchange resins for the removal of emerging contaminants (e.g. PFASs, APIs), and performed resin regeneration tests.
• Synthesized a carbon nanotube ultrafiltration membrane with high electrical conductivity and water permeability, investigated the separation of emerging contaminants (e.g. PFOA, PFOS) by conducting cross-flow filtration at pilot scale.
• Carried out pilot-scale oxidation process (ozonation) for the destruction of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs)
• Engaged in setting up a pilot-scale membrane bioreactor (MBR) and reverse osmosis (RO) system and Collaborated with lab mates to operate the MBR-RO system for the treatment of industrial wastewater, and perform water and wastewater characterization tests (TSS, VSS, TOC, BOD5, COD).
• Wrote standard operating procedures, testing standards, project reports complying with EPA approved methods or publications
• Performed field sampling, QA/QC checks, sample analysis and trouble-shooting, responsible for the setup, assembly, use, maintenance, and calibration of equipment and processes
• Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis of emerging contaminants in HPLC, UPLC/MS/MS, and GC/MS.
• Attend regular lab meetings and present research
• Guide undergraduate students to perform water sample prep and analysis
Wuhan Water Department Wuhan, China Wastewater Treatment Plant Operation Specialist January 2013-- December 2013
• Managed a system of machines through the manipulation of control boards to transfer and treat water and wastewater
• Monitored operating conditions, meters, and gauges; Inspected equipment on a regular basis
• Collected and analyzed water samples, record meter and gauge readings and operation data
