Managing the rigs/vessels hospital, medical chest and other medically related equipment

Establishing and conducting safety orientation sessions for all persons arriving on the rig/ vessel for first time

Providing trauma and medical care to injured and sick crew members

Maintaining accurate medical records of personnel onboard; i.e. blood groups, allergies medical history etc. ensuring that records accompany personnel in the event of medical evacuation

Ensuring serviceability of all hospital and emergency medical equipment and take immediate steps to rectify any deficiencies

Up-keeping of good record keeping of medication & materials; check expiry dates and prepare requisition when required

Maintaining and monitoring accurate records of controlled /dangerous drugs; ensuring the security of these drugs and submitting updated record and submit to OIM / Captain on a monthly basis

Assisting supervisors and department heads on injuries and sicknesses involving members of the departments

Coordinating with local or international shore based medical facilities as and when required

Planning & conducting weekly hygiene and safety inspections of all accommodations, toilets, public bathrooms, cabins, storerooms, etc. & reporting deficiencies to supervisor

Performing regular inspection and servicing of eye wash stations and first aid kit

Involved in all emergency drills and addressing emergency situations as designated on station bill

Promoting, participating and conducting safety and medical training as assigned by the OIM / Captain

Considering all aspects of health and hygiene in catering facilities including freezers and refrigerated food storage

Advise supervisors on occupational health, hygiene, nutrition and other related matters
