Comparison of Biologic Agents and Conventional Oral Systemic Medications in the Treatment of Chronic Psoriasis: The objective of the paper was to answer the question, “In patients with chronic psoriasis, are biologic agents more efficacious than conventional oral systemic treatments?” After conducting a review of literature, an application of evidence was organized concluding that compared to conventional medication, biological preparations are well tolerated with less severe side effects. Adherence to biologics is high, reflecting patient satisfaction with treatment. Providers should always consider biological preparations, especially if the patient experienced severe adverse effects requiring lowered dose, was nonresponsive to conventional medications, or was non-adherent.
