Main Responsibilities:

Blood Bank

Donor Phlebotomy

Collects specimen from patients for different laboratory examinations.

Monitors quality control and quality assurance in the different sections of the laboratory.

Performs Pre-Transfusion Testing (Compatibility Testing, ABO Typing, Direct Anti-Human Globulin, Indirect Anti-Human Globulin)

Knowledge of proper waste disposal and universal precaution measures.

Histopathology

Performs embedding and cutting of tissue blocks, mounting, cleaning and labeling of Histopath slide.

Able to operate microtome for section cutting of the specimen.

Able to operate cryostat for frozen section.

Performs Routine Hematoxylin and Eosin Staining

Assists the Pathologist during the gross examination of the specimen and also during frozen section and autopsy procedures.

Able to prepare slides and blocks for cytology.

Knowledge of proper waste disposal and universal precaution measures.

Monitor quality assurance and quality control of the section.

Clinical Chemistry

Performs biochemical test on blood specimens.

Able to operate Fully-Automated Blood Chemistry Analyzers.

Monitor quality assurance and quality control of the section.

Clinical Microscopy

Performs routine Urinalysis, Fecalysis and Body Fluid Analysis.

Able to identify abnormal structures in routine urinalysis.

Able to identify parasites in routine stool examinations.

Monitors quality control and quality assurance in the sections

Hematology

Able to operate Hematology Analyzers and Coagulation Machines.

Knowledgeable in performing routine and special hematologic procedures. (Complete Blood Count, Reticulocyte Count, Prothrombn Time, aPTT)

Monitor quality assurance and quality control in the section.

Rechecking of abnormal parameters.

Serology

Performs different serologic test on blood specimens. (ASO, CRP, Screening Test for Malaria, Hepatitis., etc.)

Monitor quality control and quality assurance in the section.

Microbiology

Knowledge in bacteriologic work-up for different cultures.

Performs routine bacteriology procedures. (Gram Stain, AFB staining, KOH preparation, Culture and Sensitivity Testing)

Monitors quality assurance and quality control in the section.

Strict in proper decontamination procedures and waste disposal.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Provides information for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease by conducting medical laboratory tests, procedures, experiments and analyses.

Determines normal and abnormal components of body fluids by conducting chemical analyses of blood, urine, spinal fluids and analyses.

Analyzes blood cells by counting and identifying cells, using microscopic techniques and procedures.

Prepares blood, plasma and platelets for transfusions by conducting blood group, type and compatibility test.

Maintains laboratory supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level.

Provides medical technology information by answering question and requests.

Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.

Maintains patient confidence and protects the hospital by keeping information confidential.

Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
