2004 to 2016 RTI International, Research Triangle Park, NC
Systems Programmer/Analyst. Responsible for developing computer-assisted instruments of all types in Blaise and Hatteras and for designing Manipula programs to preload and export data to tracking. Used the CATI Case Management System and Voxco to design a unique front- and back-end for each computer-assisted interview. Communicated with project directors, task leaders, and call center supervisors, as needed, to ensure that projects were in the field on schedule. Addressed changes that may be requested after interviewing begins. Provided data management support, data file documentation and delivery, and other programming services, usually using SAS. Performed end to end testing on complex studies. Hatteras is an RTI-proprietary program used to produce web interviews and uses C# in its logic. Assisted with proposals by providing budget information or writing original text to be included. Worked on a pharmaceutical data study for two study years, each time delivering the required data and coming in under budget and on time. Also worked on designing eCRFs for a national study of nulliparous women for a period of two years.

Applications Programmer (2001 to 2004). Blaise programmer responsible for programming and debugging CATI interview programs. Developed, programmed, and tested soft (suppressible) edits in Blaise to check for potentially out-of-range values, between-field inconsistencies, and possible data entry errors. Responsible for all documentation related to Blaise CATI programs: annotated hard copy questionnaires to specify Blaise field names and maintained an up-to-date file with Blaise soft edits written in English. Designed, tested, and debugged data entry programs using Blaise, Microsoft Access, and KeyEntry III software. Collaborated on forms design from both the quality control and programming perspectives, including applicability to data cleaning and data entry activities, as needed. Researched and made recommendations on data entry programs to replace KeyEntry III.
Quality Control Assistant II/Technical Specialist (1994 to 2001). Designed codebooks and performed data cleaning using VAX-based proprietary software package, including creating and applying update files to data sets. Developed complex logic checks and translated them into the COBOL language. Designed, tested, and debugged data entry programs using KeyEntry III software. Designed and developed forms for use by the Quality Control Department, including study form inventories, check-out logs, and error correction forms. Collaborated on forms design from the quality control perspective, including applicability to data cleaning and data entry activities. Assigned occupation and industry codes using the 1990 U.S. Census Bureau Industry and Occupation coding system. Assisted with training and with supervising coding staff. Maintained an inventory of publications located in the Quality Control library and ordered or renewed publications as requested.
