Supervise the drilling equipment on board and carry out necessary maintenance work on the equipment in accordance with Drilling Preventive Maintenance Program, Quality Assurance System, and regulations. Assist Drilling Section with maintenance work on drilling equipment on the drill floor, in the shale shaker room, in the mud processing areas, on the BOP deck, and in other areas on board, as instructed by the Technical Section Leader/Maintenance Engineer or the Drilling Section Leader. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Mechanical Technician is responsible for the safe and correct execution of the tasks within the preventative maintenance programme that are assigned. Maintenance of the machinery as requested by the Maintenance Supervisor. Assist Lead Mechanical Technician and Maintenance Supervisor to identify priorities to plan maintenance shutdown activities to minimize downtime and maximize production. Maintain and increase efficiency of engine room. Assist with modifications and new equipment installation. Fault finding and diagnosis of problems affecting plant and systems taking corrective actions to anticipate and prevent downtime. Performing breakdown repairs where necessary.
