Contributed services for erection of steel structures for the new VGO PIPE lines, piping work of various dimensions from 18” to 2” for more than 2000 mt length, pumping station and conversion of crude tank(15 mt height and 79 mt dia) in to VGO TANK.

Successfully completed the undertaken job by establishing and implementing safety measures for hot work, work at height, confined space, crane operations and by establishing coordination and amicable relations among various contractors and working groups.

The dismantling of 40” LPG and 10” AMINO ACID gas pipe lines from the live unit and 61 mt high flair structure was a part of VRMP(VISAKHA REFINARY MODERNISATION PROJECT) under taken by projects dept.,in which my abilities were fully utilized for the contractor to avoid hazards posed by the hot work, Working at height,confined space and crane movements in the live unit as well as in complex pipe racks and for shifting the huge quantity of dismantled waste safely without affecting any worker and the other installations in the site.

Provided my services in the dismantling of old SRU UNIT very cautiously to eliminate and mitigate the adverse consequences which could have resulted by the hot work, where elemental sulfur spread over the floor, lifting activity, working at height and polluted conditions in the site. It was also a part of refinery expansion project to accommodate a new unit in the same place. Conducted maintenance work of floating roof naphtha storage tanks (14 mt H&13 mt dia) by following the safety measures for hot work, working at height and crane& vehicle movement.

I was entrusted to carry out the maintenance work of heat exchangers in the CDU-III, structural construction for HDS REACTOR IN THE MS BLOCK and replacement of condensate pipeline for the crude tanks and completed the job in safe mode by following the safety measures, as prescribed by the FIRE & SAFETY DEPT, for activities such as HOT WORK,VEHICLE MOVEMENT in live units,confined space and working at height.

RESPONSIBILITIES EXECUTED:

Established and maintained the work place safety standards as per the standards established by the HPCL-VR safety policy.

Established the best coordination among various departments such as PROJECTS, OPERATIONS, MAINTENANCE, FIRE & SAFETY and CONTRACTORS by sharing information in time and without ambiguity. Submitted the daily work progress or status to the concerned HPCL authority i.e. job engineer and rectifications of the deviations to the F&S DEPT,if any identified by the F&S dept personnel.

Daily tool box talk and Controlled the worker’s activities effectively by identifying the unsafe acts and conditions .In some circumstances stopped/checked the job completely when there was imminent danger to avoid the damage.

Observed and followed regularly JSA & JHA to conduct the jobs in safe hands and maintained documentation pertaining to the jobs.

Receiving Permits, checking its validity and appropriateness to the nature of job, contractor or sub-contractor, work place location or area.

The Risk Assessments were prepared for the jobs as per permits.

Inspecting the site conditions, equipment and tools conditions & validity of the certifications issued by the FIRE & SAFETY DEPT and PPE OF THE WORKERS to avoid the penalties and other undesirable consequences.

Vital information about symptoms of health problems and remedies provided to the workers. Knowledge about the positive safety culture, duty of care and the impact of accidents on human life, organization and environment imparted to the contractors and workers.

International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety-NEBOSH

P.G. Diploma in“ Environment, health & Safety Management” from Andhra Pradesh Productivity Council.

Studied M.Sc.(physics) at T.S.R&T.B.K college, affiliated to Andhra university.

B.Sc., (Applied Sciences), SRKR Engineering College, affiliated to Andhra University.

PROJECT AND TRAINING UNDERTAKEN :

Project Undertaken as a part of academic curriculum titled “A study of Safety Management Practices at Rolling Mills of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant” submitted to Andhra Pradesh Productivity Council.

Successfully attended and qualified the induction and fire fight training conducted by VISAKHA STEEL PLANT AND HPCL-VR
