Deliver and prioritize nursing care for up to six post-operative and medical patients, including Orthopedics, General Surgery, Urology, Spine, GYN procedures, perform physical assessments, advocate for patient, provide pre- and post-operative teaching, dispense medications and treatments per Doctor’s orders using bar-code scanner and electronic MAR, assist bedside procedures
Perform patient admission and discharge planning, perform wound care, IV insertion and therapy, blood administration, drawing blood samples, utilize wound vac, surgical drains, and nasogastric tubes, utilize mechanical patient lift
Assess and monitor telemetry for patient rhythm and heart rate changes; notify physician of changes in patient condition, changes in telemetry, or abnormal lab results, offering accurate nursing assessment regarding patient’s status.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary team in scheduling patient therapy, compliance, and response to prescribed treatment, including overall progress, HIPPAA & JCAHO knowledge, perform interdisciplinary rounds, execute bedside report, plan, implement, and evaluate care
Assist in breaking language barriers & language translation between physicians, nurses, and patients as a Spanish speaking Certified Hospital Medical Interpreter
