PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE: :
Working as a Registered Nurse in Surgical High Dependency unit in since 24/01/2012( six years and four months) till date in Sultan Qaboos University Hospital. Have experience in taking care of trauma patients, pre and post operative cases including general surgery, orthopaedics, urology, vascular, oromaxillofacial, neurovascular surgeries.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
AS A REGISTERED NURSE IN HIGH DEPENDENCY UNIT
Receive the immediate post-operative patients and implement nursing care as per doctor’s order and standard operating procedures.
Perform immediate post-operative monitoring of patients undergoing general surgery, orthopedic, gastrointestinal track, reconstructive surgeries, urology cases, oromaxillofacial surgeries.
Collect specimen and samples for investigation such as arterial blood gas, blood examinations, cardiac markers, liver enzymes and urine examinations.
Able to manage ventilor and NIV, administration of drugs through various devices like syringe pump, infusion pump and PCA device.
Maintain the nutritional needs of the patients by administering total parenteral nutrition solutions, perform stoma care such as colostomy, tracheostomy care.
Plan and implement discharge teaching to patients undergoing various surgeries.
Immense ability to immediately assist in treating and initially diagnosing a person who is in a life-threatening situation.
Able to use devices and equipments such as ventilators, cardiac monitors, syringe pumps, ABG machine, glucometer, crash cart trolley and AED.
Proper recording and reporting of incidents and procedures .
Participate in various training and educational programmes for the improvement of skills and knowledge.
Subjective and objective observations of the patient and its proper recording and reporting .
Maintaining various inventory records and proper ward management .
