Job ID: Mechanical Engineer, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Huntsville, Alabama,

United States

Dear Hiring Manager:

I would welcome an opportunity to interview with you for the Mechanical Engineer, USACE, Huntsville, AL job position. I believe I will be a strong asset for this job position and USACE. My skill sets, professional engineering background, experience in power generation and infrastructure and good working relationship with USACE on the Aegis Ashore Poland USACE Project, Redzikowo Military Base Project, make me the best candidate for this job position.

I am a multidiscipline engineer having experience in mechanical engineering, civil engineering and corrosion control engineering. I meet all the specified qualification requirements in the job description. I am a registered professional engineer in Tennessee. Because I have been in Poland and not practiced engineering in the US since 2017, I requested that my status be changed to Inactive until I return to the US. My career background experience has been to develop designs, plans and specifications for major mechanical systems in the Power, Environmental and Infrastructure Industry Sector Markets. I can develop new approaches in solving engineering problems. My reputation has always been to develop good working relationships with project teams, management teams and my customers.

I have successfully completed two (2) international work assignments. My most recent work assignment is in the Republic of Poland as a US Government sponsored employee with Wood Environment and Infrastructure Company on the Aegis Ashore Poland USACE Project, Redzikowo Military Base Project. I am fully trained in ITAR regulations. My current term engineering assignments with Wood E&I (formerly AMECFW) at the Redzikowo Military Base, Poland began January 2017 and will end on or before August 1, 2018, after which I will permanently return to the US and be available for employment. If offered the job I could be available for employment early to Mid-August 2018.

I bring over 25 years’ experience of mechanical engineering background providing innovative solutions to complex problems in the environmental systems for fossil fuel power generation systems. I can apply my skill sets, knowledge and experience to this position and be an asset to the USACE work teams. While with Alstom Power (GE Power), I provided mechanical engineering support on many the fossil power projects including flue gas desulfurization environmental control systems. My involvement was on the engineering and design side including support for mechanical equipment, material selection, corrosion control and warranty repairs. I have a working knowledge of plant operating equipment, reliability and maintenance. I have managed cost centers for the mechanical engineering and materials engineering departments where I prepared plans, schedules and coordinated detailed phases of mechanical engineering work. As example of how I applied new approaches to problems encountered, while Materials Engineering Manager at Alstom Power, I successfully developed a gas nitride hardened steel on a new high temperature flue gas system.

These are my major engineering strengths:

Mechanical Systems and Equipment

Heating and Ventilation Design

Pumps and Machinery

Design and Concept Development

Hydraulics and Piping Systems

Manage Critical Submittals

Codes and Standards: API, AWWA, ASME Vessel Design

US Government Experience (USACE, MDA)

On the Aegis Ashore Poland USACE Project, my responsibilities have been lead mechanical engineer in charge of critical mechanical engineering designs and systems, design reviews and submittals. I have had the crucial role as main engineering source providing engineering support to procurement, construction, project controls and logistics teams on the document submittal side.

I enjoy travelling, and spending time conducting field inspections and doing integrity evaluations for equipment and vessels. Some of my field experience in the field include conducting integrity inspections of vessels, pipes and equipment and troubleshooting engineering problems.

I look forward to hearing from you. My contact information is provided below for your convenience. I am available to speak with you on the phone or email. If you call me in Poland the time zone is 6 hours ahead.
