Built and grew a niche women’s apparel startup into an award-winning e-commerce brand selling globally via its website as well as partner sites. I was brought on board in its early stage to scale and support the technical infrastructure. Later my responsibilities were expanded to include product and marketing. Served as CEO from 2009 to 2016.

•Grew average monthly number of unique visitors to 300K+ and purchasing customer base to 100K+ with more than 50% repeat customers and 40% located outside the US.

Key Efforts

•Defined the company’s vision, synthesized and drove product and go-to-market strategies by identifying and focusing on plus-size women’s unique needs and expectations.

•Defined and managed the execution of the company’s product portfolio and roadmap (including brand objectives, market research, and A / B testing), while ensuring cost optimization and the manufacturing capability to execute within budgets.

•Reduced the design-to-production product life cycle by > 80%, from 6 months industry standard to < 1 month, increased new product releases from 4 / year to 2+ / week, and ensured accurate and timely fulfillment by adapting the JIT / Lean methodology. As a result, introduced 3K+ new product styles.

•Employed data analytics to predict trends, prepare for demand, pinpoint customers, optimize pricing and promotions, and monitor real-time results. Leveraged data from web browsing and purchasing patterns, social media, industry forecasts, and existing customer records.

•Architected and managed the implementation and launch of a successive series of e-commerce environments culminating in a highly-scalable platform running on AWS, Magento, and WordPress that was capable of handling $200M+ in annual revenue.

•Managed the design, in-house development, and launch of supporting applications: a merchandising / sales predictive analytics & reporting system, CRM, CMS, order processing, inventory management / warehousing, and an EAI server. Guided an off-shore development team utilizing Agile methodologies.

Exigen Group, San Francisco, CA 2000 – 2002

Sr. Director of Product Management

Exigen Group offers SaaS-based business process automation solutions for large insurance, financial, and media enterprises worldwide. Hired to lead the product management organization and to manage the product portfolio.

•Built and managed the Product Management and Product Operations organizations. Grew the team from 5 to 17 people. Team members were located in various parts of US, Germany, Latvia, and Russia.

•Managed the consolidation of 8 heterogeneous product sets into a single platform. Launched 12 new SaaS-based products including the SCM workflow engine, application server, business logic processor, EAI tool, and knowledgebase.
