Aerospace: Task leader of 6 person team and saved approximately $1 million per aircraft for Garrett. Design and Installation drawings of galleys including glass racks, food carriers, trash containers, sinks and drawers. Also drawings for divans, cabinets, bulkheads, side ledge, emergency equipment, placards, seats and seat tracks. System and Installation drawings of environmental control system, oxygen system, potable plumbing, black water plumbing and lavatories. Modify aircraft primary and secondary structures, service and cargo doors. Sheet metal, extrusions, composite materials and honeycomb panels used in designs. Liaison duties with engineering and manufacturing group. Discovered and rectified incorrect hose fittings installed, and certified hoses for potable water. Design and Installation drawings of avionic equipment, cockpit, radio rack, under floor equipment, various switch panels, and antenna. Design wiring diagrams of equipment installations for various aerospace vehicles. Cable and Installation drawings of wiring harnesses. Create and maintain Interconnect diagrams. Various aircraft simulator Installation drawings for canopy enclosure, motion control devices for flight controls, On Board Inert Gas Generation Systems (OBIGGS) and nose gear. Ground Support Equipment, (GSE), including Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) for use on aircraft carriers. Layout of FWD and AFT skirts, design of parachute harness tray and system tunnel, and weight trade off studies of the outer skin panels for the K-1 rocket. Design machined housing section for the internal components of the command, control and communication system for the SLAM missile. Electro/Mechanical (E/M): Represent T-0 group in Pre-Launch briefings. Represent Drafting group in design reviews. Layout and design of new and modified chassis and rack installations. Field inspections of Port Canaveral buoy for configuration checks, verify drawings, parts list, serial numbers of the rack and chassis with cable assemblies. Red line drawings, write ECOs, and take photos for documentation record. Layout and design of impact printers, card readers, tooling fixtures, wiring harnesses, rack and panel, and various E/M packaging of components and subassemblies into mechanical boxes including chassis. Design and Installation drawings of U.S.Army trailers and communication shelters. Design drawings for EMI shielding of various boxes and castings. E/M assembly and installation drawings of PC cards, motherboards, various connectors, wire, semi rigid cabling and wiring instructions. Layouts of printed wiring boards, artwork and component placement for circuit card assemblies, and create schematics.

Facilities: Lead for architectural drawing of commercial building. Lead on 5-6 person Design teams. Redesign and modify Launch Pad 39A/B communication, data and power racks including those at the simulated sites at various buildings at Kennedy Space Center (KSC). Supervise and edited writing of the T-Minus 0-Seconds Manual for Operation and Checkout Building, and the revision of the T-0 manuals for other locations at KSC. Maintain cable harness, cable assemblies and cable diagram books for the T-0 system. Conduct post flight walk downs at Launch Pads 39A/B. Also redesign and modify clean rooms, existing offices, labs, production areas, plant piping network, and cable routing at various companies. Produce cost estimates and work orders for changes. Conduct motion and time studies on machining centers and production areas.

My team saved the Garrett company approximately $1 million per aircraft.

Assigned to Galaxy program for layout of envelope cross section of the fuselage to insure galleys comply within envelope parameters. Layout, design and details of galleys, and associated items such as glass racks, trash cans, ice boxes and sinks. Design new sink parameters for improving manufacturing and finishing. Also standardize sinks into eight styles for cost efficiency. Designed six standard tray carriers. Liaison with various vendors for the manufacturing of sinks and tray carriers. Honeycomb panels, sheet metal and extrusions used for galleys and components. Discovered during configuration checks that incorrect hose fittings were installed and hoses not certified for potable water. Rectified with correct hose fitting and certified hoses. EDRs and ECOs written and incorporated to complete the design and sell off to QC. Red line drawings and archived per FAA procedures. Liaison duties with engineering and manufacturing group.
