University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB), El Paso County Jail System, El Paso, TX Mid-level Practitioner for two facilities in the El Paso County Jail system with a combined patient population of approx. 3500. One of two medical providers serving both facilities at any given time. Requires competency in managing wide variety of medical conditions for patients across an age spectrum and varying levels of complexity including patients with multiple comorbidities. Provides routine, urgent, and chronic medical care in a clinic setting under remote supervision of the UTMB Regional Medical Director and in collaboration with the unit physician under approved protocols. Tasks include eliciting detailed patient histories, conducting physical examinations, ordering appropriate studies and referrals, diagnosing and treating medical conditions, conducting minor surgical procedures, and patient education.
