Senior QA Engineer Sageworks April 2018 – June 2018

Sageworks makes SaaS software for the Banking Industry.

After contracting for 6 weeks, Sageworks hired me as a regular employee, because they were very happy with my work. However, they were purchased soon after and then layoffs occurred. My time at Sageworks was short, however, I have great references from this short engagement.

While at Sageworks, I:

Tested multiple new features for their online product and regression tested for existing product features.

Reported, prioritized and tracked bugs, rerunning and updating tests accordingly.

Created and fixed automated tests using Selenium with C# in Visual Studio.

Developed approximately 160 test cases for 2 new products.

Assisted in their transition to Agile.

Senior QA Engineer and Scrum Master (Contractor) SoftPro Nov. 2016 – Dec. 2017

The product tested performed complex calculations for financial transactions. This was both a client/server application with MS SQL backend and a SaaS product.

Worked on an Agile team to deliver features and fixes every 2 weeks.

Ensured financial calculations conformed to government regulations, which changed often.

Led lunch and learn presentations on MS Test Manager, a TFS and Visual Studio based tool.

Manually tested a closely integrated product suite, importing and exporting data between them.

Handled issues escalated by Customers, working with Development for quick turn-around times.

Worked with automation team to select new tests and write them in a way that they could be automated.

Senior QA Engineer and Scrum Master Itron Inc. Aug. 2010 – Aug. 2016

Product was an enterprise-class data management system that used web services, app servers, and databases to import, export and manage millions of meter readings from wireless devices. Readings were used for tracking energy use for billing by large companies such as Duke Energy.

Wrote and ran manual and automated tests of webservice and client/server based application. Tests were data driven and results were checked against databases using SQL scripting.

Assessed release readiness and risks based on requirements coverage and defects found.

Debugged failed automated tests, determining if failure was an expected change or a defect.

Worked as Scrum Master to introduce Agile Development to a geographically dispersed team of approximately 50 engineers while also performing automated and manual QA testing.

Trained globally dispersed teams on the product, automation processes and tools.

Contracted at NC Reinsurance Facility: Led functional and beta testing of online portals to a data processing application. Implemented agile methodologies and educated teams on the process and benefits.

Used metrics to drive decisions on release readiness, such as defect recurrence rates and analysis of where defects were found in the product.

Created test tool using Ruby to compare data fields across reports.

Introduced Agile which accelerated the release date that was delay by several months.

Originally hired at Arsenal Digital, which was acquired by IBM.

Product tested was a web portal and client application that performed data storage backup and recovery, with billing and backup activity tracked in a database.

Successfully established and led a QA team of 7 people and an offshore team of 5.

Interviewed, made hiring decisions, trained, and gave performance feedback to employees.

Assessed release quality and made recommend release decisions.

Introduced the use of VMware to add variation to test coverage and increase efficiency.

Led test framework creation in IBM Rational Tools where previously only Word documents were used.

Manager and Senior QA Engineer EMC Dell Aug. 2003 – April 2006

Products were enterprise-sized solutions for data backup and storage, which included new software and hardware.

Grew team from 8 to 20 testers that were working in the US and Mexico on multiple projects.

Responsible for tracking and succinctly reporting to executive and PMs on program milestones, plans, and resource use, which included both hardware and employees.

In two-year period, work per tester doubled as a result of improved lab management and automation.
