Projects
Restriction Enzyme Mapper
Designed a Restriction Enzyme Mapper web application using Python CGI modules which mapped compatible restriction sites of an organism based on an accession number entered by the user. Utilized custom made parsing modules for GenBank and FASTA file formats as well as a MySQL relational database for gene and restriction site annotation. Implemented HTML, CSS, and Javascript components to construct the user interface. Professional Experience
Automation Specialist, GeneDx, Gaithersburg, MD April 2017 – Present
Design, write, and deploy new applications for liquid transferring protocols in the automated clinical laboratory setting while following the software development life cycle as a template for releasing versions into production
(utilizes Jira web application).
Develops protocols for Hamilton STAR and STARLet instruments using customized sequence-building to transfer patient samples and reagents of different consumable types with temperature and time sensitive parameters to carry out a complete and successful reaction for analysis.
Oversees and provides technical support and troubleshooting for Zephyr, Sciclone, Hamilton STAR, Hamilton STARLet, and QIAgility instruments for all departments within GeneDx.
Provides hardware and software support for all Hamilton and Perkin Elmer robotic instruments in the company.
Calibrates and installs new protocols on all Perkin Elmer and Hamilton instruments by teaching the instrument and calibrating individual plate positions on all deck layouts for every protocol.

Molecular Genetics Technologist I, GeneDx, Gaithersburg, MD April 2015 – April 2017
Performed genetic testing via robotic and manual polymerase chain reaction on clinical samples in order to provide results that can be analyzed for genetic disorders via Sanger and NextGen Sequencing
Maintained inventory within laboratory by submitting purchase request forms for laboratory supplies.
Performed troubleshooting and maintenance on HAMILTON Microlab robots during genetic testing by correcting robotic errors, adjusting volumes of reagents, and performing necessary dilutions.
Adhered to proper quality control policies within a clinical setting by wearing personal protective equipment and keeping detailed records when logging solutions, temperatures, and general laboratory maintenance, complying with good laboratory practices (GLP) and NY STATE, CLIA, and CAP standards.
