My calling by God is to be a Chaplain. My goal is to become a full-time Chaplain.

Experience

First Choice Hospice Boise, ID- Chaplain & Bereavement Director, May 2017-June 2018 PAID

Responsibilities – PAID

Chaplain- Provide emotional and spiritual support to patient, families and staff. Vocal member of the Interdisciplinary Team. Attends all deaths. Facilitates life review, and counseling to patients, families and staff. Offers bereavement support to families and staff. Officiates monthly staff support experiences. Provides staff support to staff. Active member in care conferences. Offers moral and spiritual direction during meetings. Provides weekly WORD to staff members during meetings. Officiates funerals, baptisms and anointings to patients, families and staff. Proficient in charting. Leader of bi-weekly staff support group.

Bereavement Director- Created bereavement program. Facilitates education to staff on how to provide bereavement support. Will Lead bereavement group. Makes phone calls and home visits to bereaved. Routinely checks in with staff to provide emotional and spiritual support. Writes 30-day letter to bereaved. Officiates funerals.

- St. Luke’s Hospital Boise, ID- Clinical Chaplain CPE Resident Level II, June 2016- May 2017 PAID

Responsibilities - PAID

Facilitate pastoral visits with patients, families, and staff. Provide counseling, bereavement, emotional and spiritual support to anyone in the hospital. Active member of all Interdisciplinary meetings, have a voice within the community at the hospital. Present at every death, providing bereavement support to the family, patient, and staff. Communicate with OTDR, and local Coroner when necessary. Responds to call CODE calls, active member of every meeting held in the hospital. Routine rounds on all units. Officiate weekly worship experiences in the hospital chapel. Officiate blessings, baptisms, prayers, anointings, etc… Write and present verbatims weekly to a group. Participate in Didactics, case studies, and seminars. Present weekly meditations for peers, and staff. Record patient, family, staff visits on several charting systems. Make 10-20 Pastoral visits a day.

St. Lukes Meridian-PAID

Attend Bed Meeting five times a week, where I am an active participant in each meeting. Additionally, I provide a devotional to the leaders of each unit, and the Administration Supervisor. I attend Palliative Care Team meetings five mornings a week, we discuss patients/families/situations/staff. I officiate a Chapel service and meditation once a week. I round each unit (6 total), and participate in unit rounds five times a week. During these rounds, I offer my input on each patient/family/situation. I engage in staff meetings bi-weekly, where I offer a devotion and/or input on logistical issues. I am constantly available to provide an anointing/blessing/communion to all family/patient/staff. On average I provide pastoral care to 10-15 patients per day, five days a week. Additionally, I round each unit, and make a point to speak with every staff member at the hospital. Additionally, I am responsible for attending each death (30 so far), and guiding family/staff through the process of what happens after someone dies in the hospital. I chart on each patient/family encounter. I am a liaison between the hospital and corner, Organ Tissue Donor Requester, the hospital staff, and families/friends. I respond to all CODE calls.

Mountain State Tumor Institute- PAID

Once a month I offer Tea For The Soul to all 100 staff members. During this time, I provide emotional and spiritual support. Each week I provide Spiritual care to patients/families/staff in the Chemotherapy unit, Pediatric Oncology, Radiation, and Medical Oncology. I round on each unit throughout the day. On average my goal is to see 10 patients each day. I chart on each encounter, make phone calls to patients, and provide emotional and spiritual support to all.

ST. Lukes Medical Center Boise-PAID

Facilitate Chapel Service once a week. Offer a devotional bi-weekly at staff meetings. Active member of the Interdisciplinary team, attending Palliative care meetings, ethics consults, bed meeting, unit rounds, and referrals. I respond to all CODE calls, attend every death, and lead family/friends/staff through the process after a patient dies. I chart on every encounter with a patient/family. I round on all 9 floors, providing emotional and spiritual support.

-United States Postal Service Nampa, ID- City Carrier, April 2013- May2016 PAID

Deliver mail on specific route. Encourages coworkers, strangers on street, and customers on route. Functions as a beacon of light for those I engage daily. Provides the best care available to customers, and coworkers. I am an expression of Jesus to those I encounter. Able to be a sounding board to management. Moral compass to coworkers. Listening ear to people I meet on the street. Neighborhood watch. Care for the shut-ins, and elderly. Listens to those I meet, and provides whatever assistance I can.

-Idaho Veterans Home Boise, ID- Volunteer Associate Chaplain, November 2013- June 2015

Meet with patients to provide spiritual/religious care. Participate and help facilitate Church services on Sundays. I take part in bringing Patients down to the church service, and bring them back to their rooms. Contribute in setting up, and taking down all prep for the church service.

Created several bible studies. Facilitated each group weekly. Led prayer through each. Provided healthy structure for people to discuss the topic of the gathering. Cultivated a safe space for prayer. Met weekly with each member for one on one counseling sessions.

-Glendale Adventist Hospital Glendale, CA- Clinical Chaplain Intern, May-September 2012

Attended staff meetings, met one-on-one with patients and provided counseling sessions. I was responsible for several units. Developed healthy relationships with physicians and staff at the hospital. Met weekly with supervisor, discussing patient interactions, and books. Participated in bereavement group meetings. Facilitated a spirituality group for drug/rehab hospital. Spoke in weekly chapel services. Assisted in hospital religious events. Responded to all code calls. Provided prayer, counseling, and religious rites for patients and staff.

-Central Avenue Church Glendale, CA- Ministry Intern, May 2011- February 2012

Youth Group Director- Created the program, established a youth base, wrote weekly bible study activities, co-lead Sunday youth group service, created local outreach activities for youth. Met weekly with Pastor to discuss ministry.

Bridge Ministry co-creator/leader- Created outreach group, founded mission/faith statement, cultivated weekly outreaches, shaped monthly outreach goals/activities. Met weekly with Pastor to discuss progress. Met weekly with co-creator to build ministry.

Publications Director- Responsibilities included preparing weekly bulletin, and maintaining the website.

Volunteer coordinator- Role was to assist volunteers in finding the right fit for them in ministry, based off of their gifts and calling. I placed volunteers in different ministry areas, and controlled the volunteer calendar.

Small Group Leader- Co-lead a weekly group for elderly men. Lead the bible study, and prayer time each week. Produced a weekly topic, and exegesis for group.

Attended staff meetings, lectures, assisted in group therapy sessions, participated in patient rounds, provided counseling sessions for patients in all areas of the hospital, completed charts, and was involved in debriefing and interventions.

Hospice Care- Attended weekly staff meetings. Met with each Chaplain one on one to learn their ways of Chaplaincy. Engaged in various forms of performing ministry. Met with patients at their residence, in addition to Hospice Houses. Provided Spiritual and Religious Care for each patient, their family, and the Medical Staff. Including facilitating counseling sessions, helping with life review, and caring for each person’s holistic needs. Charted each interaction with patients, family members, and staff.

General Hospital- Participated in weekly debriefs, and daily rounds. Engaged in weekly CPE courses. Met with 40+ patients a day. Provided Spiritual and Religious Care to each patient in various forms, assisted in the same form for all staff. Explored Chaplaincy through all Units of the Hospital. Met weekly with supervisor, discussing ministry, books, and course work. Completed Charting on each patient.

Behavioral Health Hospital- Prepared, and administered daily Spirituality Groups. Fostered counseling sessions for each patient who sought it. Discussed needs of staff and assisted when able. Participated in weekly meetings with staff, where we went through each patient’s current status, and desired medical trajectory. Vocalized patient’s Spiritual status when applicable.

Drug and Rehab Home- Prepared, and led Daily Spirituality Group Sessions. Met with individual patients to provide counseling. Attended weekly patient debriefs with staff. Assisted in one intervention of a patient.

-Northwest Christian University Eugene, OR- PAID

Leader of multiple Community Life Groups- September 2006-December 2009- PAID

Facilitated bible studies. Provided counseling to group members. Developed and led studies each week. Instructed people on understanding Scripture. Created an environment where people can discuss thoughts about God, Scripture, and Faith. Created a weekly topic, and quarterly outline of where the groups will project towards. Each semester was asked to create another Community Life Group.

Student Body president- May 2008-May 2009- PAID

Wrote speeches, agendas, and laws. Ran weekly Senate meetings and Exec. Cabinet meetings. Attended Trustee meetings, panels, and other various campus meetings. Gave public speeches, and wrote public announcements. Held the position as the voice of the student body. Developed retreat plans and implemented them. Encouraged Senate members in their committees. Preformed conflict resolution. Created voter ballots, and Senate applications. Designed the template for agendas, and laws. Established the government presence on campus. Constructed the design of apparel. Was invited to attend a conference in D.C. as a representative of the University. I was the face and voice of the University to both the school and the community.

Embracing The Body Coordinator- May 2007-May 2008-PAID

Developed the community life groups on campus. Created an application for potential community life group leaders. Held interviews. Designed and implemented retreats. Created weekly one- on-ones with group leaders. Encouraged/mentored group leaders. Produced the purpose statement of having community life groups. A member of the campus ministry staff. Attended weekly staff meetings and bi-weekly one-on-ones. Helped facilitate chapels. Speaker in Chapel twice a week. Mouthpiece for the weekly University announcements. Assisted in creating a Ministry presence on Campus. Established relationships with students, faculty, and staff on campus. Held weekly meetings with people from various areas on campus, discussing ministry, and giving counseling when suitable. Conceived numerous ministry activities and opportunities for all persons on campus.

Admissions Assistant/Camp Counselor- May 2008- August 2008- PAID

Completed daily office tasks. Communicated with potential students. Gave campus tours. Participated in marketing material. Attended Christian camps. Provided counseling to campers. Led small groups. Encouraged teens in their life. Wrote and performed a presentation depicting the University. Represented the University. Created positive relationships with perspective students, camp owners, and other Universities/Colleges. Cultivated relationships between the University and people.

Mission Trip to Africa- June 2007

I preached on several occasions. We walked through the bush and gave a “word” to ailing people. Taught in the school on the center. Developed healthy relationships with the orphans who lived at the center by spending time with them. Participated in inner city and bush ministry outreaches. Lead small group sessions for mission team. I continue to maintain relationships with the orphans and workers at the center.

Assisted in daily office tasks. Copying, computer work, taking phone calls, directing students to appropriate areas of the building. Assisted Professors with various tasks.

-Advocates for Inclusion Nampa, ID- Developmental therapist, December 2004- August 2006- PAID

Provided developmental therapy to clients. Assisted clients in attempting set goals. Documented each attempt and narrated in detail the events of the day. Ensured safety to clients and maintained healthy relationships with clients and the families of the clients. Participated in one-on-ones with each client’s caseworker. Conducted therapy in school, home and public settings. Encouraged clients in their development.

-St. Paul’s Catholic School Nampa, ID- Childcare Provider, August 2002- May 2003- PAID

Provided childcare for students of St. Paul’s Catholic School. Ensured that students were safe. Engaged in games, and activities with students. Established healthy relationships with students and the individuals who picked and dropped them off. Committed to confirming the identity of those picking up the students. Distributed snacks to students. Presented conflict resolution when needed and ensured rules were kept. Discussed the Roman Catholic faith with students, and assisted in integrating faith into activities.
