RESEARCH

University of California, Riverside (Sleep and Cognition Lab) July 2016-July 2017

As a research assistant, I made phone calls to confirm appointments, set up EEG caps/machines, conducted memory testing and collected data in order to study how the human brain learns new information while not overwriting previously stored memories. My research lab also investigated the underlying differences between declarative and non-declarative memories by studying REM-driven and NREM-driven consolidation processes by implementing naps.

University of California, Riverside (Huffman Lab) January 2018 –June 2018

As a research assistant, my duties involved nissl staining of mice brain tissues as well as dissecting brains and cutting them on the cryostat. This lab studied the effects of alcoholism in female mice and their parenting skills including the mechanisms involved in the development of the neocortex, specifically the establishment of discrete neocortical areas and the ‘wiring’ of the brain.
