As part of Carlisle R&D Global Headquarters, my focus is on innovation.

I initiate and drive projects through multiple departments in US and internationally as needed.

I manage and provide direction to outside companies assisting Carlisle innovation projects.

I develop proprietary process and product design concepts, define requirements/specification for new structural and friction material development and facilitate their migration to production.

I create and experiment with product designs meant to allow substantial part mass reduction, increased elasticity, improved load capacity and thermal management using hybrid parts produced through various molding techniques.

I design test procedures, some dynamometer specific, manufacture test fixtures as well as tooling to support and induce the innovation process.

Senior Designer. Successfully developed manufacturing systems including ultrasonic cutting systems, specialized tire choppers, rubber extrusion machines with screws up to 10" (250 mm) diameter, extrusion heads to 1.000.000 lb. separation force, extrusion dies, automated production / transfer lines, tire building machines and servicers, calenders and other various specially designed equipment and technologies for companies as Michelin, Cooper Tire, Carlisle Rubber, Standard Products, Goodyear, Davis Standard in the rubber, plastic, metal extrusion and forming industries.

Manufacturing Manager

-Contract position in the automotive environment optimizing all aspects of mass production for a new product line (transmission-automotive Ind.). Coordinated hands-on a working force in excess of 280 employees to optimize process & tooling design, equipment specification and procurement, personnel training, QC, maintenance etc.

- Roctel Manufacturing Manager position was a one year “tour de force” meant to support/fulfill an automotive contract for a new product in a tight time frame all based on improvised technology and set-up, allowing the necessary time frame for specialized permanent equipment to be designed and built off-shore. Together with the very young team I built, we developed the manufacturing base in less than 3 months, our accomplishments were way above expectation and we honored the contract months before the due date.

- Restructured plant operations for Baycomp, division of Saint-Gobain France from R & D to mass production.

Special Machine Tools and Custom Machinery Design and Fabrication, Redesign and Alterations of existing Machines in accordance with new standards of productivity and quality.

Design and conduct experiments to optimize process and/or to support new equipment design.

Design, source, fabricate, installed & commission two new production lines for this unique in the world dry process reinforced fiber manufacture (fiberglass, carbon, Kevlar, stainless steel fibers and thermoplastic materials.)

Most of the machines / processes developed built and commissioned are still one of a kind, unique and still in production at the time of my last visit in 2011.

Carried on a contract to coordinate, revise and complete the design, assemble and commission of 5 prototype Dual Walking Beam Heavy Lift Systems/Robots, 240 ton capacity each, to be used in the Halifax Shipyard for ground transportation of ships. The design originated in Denmark but had to be completed and converted from metric to imperial in Nova Scotia by the team representing Europe I was part of.

Start-up hands-on from foundation-up a company where I started as employee # 28 in 1979. In 1984 the company had over 6000 employees.

Lead an 8-member team of engineers as Engineering Manager of the Prototype Department: gearbox design, tools and fixture design, QC procedure, production implementation and commissioning of all prototypes from auto to tank transmissions.

Managing over 180 employees, we improved productivity through process flow optimization, gear-tooling redesign and acquired extensive hands-on experience accumulated during the process of commissioning of all new equipment, fixtures and technologies as well as specific tool for gears and process set-up.

Designed and Patented Gear Chamfering Tool working simultaneously with the gear shaving process. The patent was eventually sold to Samputensili, Bologna, Italy.

Design of hobbing cutters for involute gears and involute or straight splines, shaving tools, broaches as well as fixtures for all the gear manufacture and assembly process.

Design of improved replacement parts for heavy-duty forge equipment, reorganized maintenance department with over 200 members; rebuild equipment from 800-ton guillotine to 4000 ton forging press, heat treatment furnaces, induction HT process.

Initiated a Speed Race Motorcycle Club, supervised the design and manufacture of 2 stroke racing engines and related transmissions, and organized competitions at national level.
