GENERAL MOTORS COMPANY – 1994 TO 2017

Director - Global Creative Design Operations 2013 – 2017 Executive oversight of 5 business units, containing ~120 salaried and hourly personal. Areas of accountability included creative digital imaging and visualization, information technology (IT), global budget, workload analysis, planning, facilities, security, training, staffing and corporate outreach for the North America Design Center. Global lead for the international Creative Design Centers in China, South Korea, Australia, Brazil and Germany.

Created and implemented a financial management strategy of $400 million global operating and capital budget which led to a ~15% improvement in forecasting accuracy and 4 consecutive years of budget compliance.

Led the development and successfully presented to senior leadership resulting in approval of a 360,000-square-foot facility expansion proposal for the Global Creative Design Center.

Appointed to Design Center Project Director for the multiyear, multimillion dollar, design and construction project, which is the largest portion of a $1 billion Global Technical Center renovation investment.

Directed process gap analysis, business continuity planning, Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA)- compliant internal audits and risk management assessments to meet corporate regulatory compliance targets.

Enhanced the global IT data security process, peer-to-peer (P2P) site, SharePoint sites and access protocol to increase day-to-day sharing of creative design assets. Associate Director - Global Accessory Engineering 2010 – 2013 Execution of the corporate global accessory product development strategy for the United States, Canada, Mexico, Germany, China, South Korea, Australia, India, and Brazil.

Appointed technical liaison to high level government officials including; President Obama’s Automotive Task Force, Senator Deborah Stabenow, Former Senator Carl Levin, Congresswoman Debbie Dingell, Representative Sander Levin, Former Representative John Dingell, and Former Governor Jennifer Granholm.

Collaboratively identified and acquired a $150 million government incentive for electric vehicles technology.

Managed the design, construction and grand opening of a new Global Advanced Battery Systems Laboratory facility renovation project which included the development, approval and management of $25 million appropriation requisition – project completed 9 months ahead of schedule resulting in $6 million cost avoidance.

Created and executed a staffing plan resulting in a 40% increase of specialized alternative propulsion specialist.

Promoted to Associate Director in 2010.

Executive Chief of Staff - Vehicle Integration and Performance Division 2006 – 2008 Day-to-day business operations management for the Vehicle Integration & Performance Division, Safety Engineering Organization, and Vehicle Chief Engineers.

Led planning and execution of the Leadership Development Program for 500+ Engineering leaders.

Restructured C-level Executive Technical Problem Resolution Forum that resulted in a 40% improvement in required approvals for key vehicle development milestones.

Provided administrative oversight for $300 million departmental budget, resource management, external & internal senior level technical presentations and IT procurement. Engineering Group Manager - Vehicle Assembly Plant 2004 – 2006 Managed 10 engineering resources and 3 hourly personnel for statistical problem solving activities at the Moraine Assembly Plant for midsize truck products.

Developed, executed and managed the quality sufficiency plan resulting in a year-over-year 11% improvement.

Led execution of the Customer Contact Call Center, including implementation of first bilingual callers (Spanish and Mandarin) resulting in 15% reduction of JDPower Initial Quality Scores.

Appointed to Executive Chief of Staff by senior leadership team in 2006. Engineering Group Manager - Noise and Vibration Proving Ground 2002 – 2004 Managed 25 technical resources responsible software tool development, technical specification, vehicle integration requirements, and technical training.

Led the Global Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) Noise and Vibration Forum and administered a $1.1 million IT budget for the United States, Canada, Mexico, Australia, China, Brazil, and Germany.

Developed data acquisition training courses and taught course to manufacturing and field test engineers.

Managed the technical strategy for correlating math models to physical properties. Visiting Adjunct Professor at Purdue University - Special Assignment 2001 – 2002 Fostered technology transfer between corporate and university through, research, teaching, and outreach service.

Developed teaching plans and taught 2 required undergraduate mechanical engineering courses.

Key contributor for the acquisition of a $116 million donation to Purdue University from The Partners for the Advancement of Collaborative Engineering Education (PACE).

Design Engineer - Fullsize Truck Interior Components & Global Portfolio Development Center 1998 – 2001 Lead Engineer and Program Manager for injection molded plastic component. Responsibilities included program timing, imperative management, design reviews, problem resolution and oversite of all supplier activities.

Translated customer product features and regulatory requirements into vehicle technical specifications.

Redesigned sidewall, door panel and sillplate interior trim resulting in over $0.6M in cost savings.

Successfully executed vehicle launch for 3 truck programs, supporting 4 manufacturing plants.

Selected by senior leadership team for Adjunct Professor Special Assignment at Purdue University in 2001. Noise and Vibration Test and Development Engineer – Milford Proving Grounds 1994 – 1996 Oversight for full vehicle, subsystem and component noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) test analysis, including modal analysis, wind tunnel testing, and four post road simulation testing.

Developed and instructed NVH data acquisition training courses to manufacturing and field test engineers.

Selected as General Motors fellowship recipient by senior leadership team. Completed MSME at Purdue University in 1998 and promoted to senior engineer.
