PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

THOMSON REUTERS, Lake Oswego, OR Jan 2010-Aug 2017

Thomson Reuters acquired Sabrix in 2010. In this company, my role expanded to oversee quality in the Indirect Tax business as well as the Property Tax business and collaborating with our Compliance products to ensure high quality throughout our application suite.

Senior QA Software Manager 2015-2017

Responsible for hiring, onboarding, training and mentoring a team of over 40 QA Engineers and Analysts across locations in the Oregon, Arizona, Texas, Scotland and India.

Produced and monitored Quality Assurance best practices including generating a “definition of done” for a sprint and release, test case development within Quality Center, and automated test case development and promotion across multiple products and releases produced by 12 scrum teams all running on 2-week sprints.

Managed Vendor relationship with Cognizant and other vendors providing staffing for Quality Assurance testing and automation and ensured work effort was of high quality.

Managed release process for promotion of product from Development platform through to Production. Oversaw QA approval at each stage through promotion process.

Validated Integration Test Plans for ERP Systems to verify proper tax calculation. Verified Soap WebService contracts were honored through automated testing. Verified proper tax responses and audit records.

Scrum Master and Product Owner for QA Automation team that used Selenium and Protractor for UI automation and Jmeter for performance testing. Ran grooming, planning, retrospective and demonstration meetings for the team.

Utilized Atlassian Jira to track team progress and status for product releases. Created scrum board and managed backlog for QA Automation team.

Integrated QA automated tests with GO-CD Pipeline to enable quality in promotions within the Continuous Delivery process.

Managed system and user accounts for developers and testers for the ONESOURCE suite.

Acted as business expert for Indirect Tax application during Cloud migration process.

QA Software Manager 2012-2015

Developed Automation and test framework for REST services using SoapUI.

Instituted use of Jenkins for CI test automation for Webservices testing and calculation verification.

Lead transition for QA team from following a Waterfall methodology to practicing a true Agile/Scrum practice.

Worked with Technical Publications team to develop training materials for our Indirect Tax application suite that was used for internal and external training. I lead the 101 and 201 training sessions for new hires and external customers.

SABRIX INC., Lake Oswego, OR 2002-2010

Sabrix provides transaction tax enterprise software and is the preferred solution for many of today’s Fortune 500 companies.

At Sabrix I lead the QA group in testing the tax software, audit compliance and platform support. We support approximately eight software releases per year in addition to monthly tax data updates.

QA Tax Engine Lead 2004-2010

Reviewed Product Specifications and Designs to create Test Plans and test cases for new features.

Ran Triage meetings with business, support, management and development representatives to evaluate and scope new bugs and improvements.

Designed and implemented automated UI tests using Mercury Quick Test Pro.

Lead team effort to successfully automate over 2000 calculation scenarios using XML.

Tested complex calculation scenarios with a focus on tax accuracy and compliance. Test methods used: Black box, pseudo code and decision tree matrix testing, SQL data base queries, and critical and analytical thinking.

Ran compatibility tests of our enterprise software for all supported app server and database combinations.

Developed and executed audit and reporting tests to validate tax results were recorded properly and that audit reports ran successfully and accurately to enable tax filing.
