To Whom It May Concern:
My name is Ashley Hampton. I am a student nurse practitioner with an expected graduation date of March 13, 2018. I am interested in a family nurse practitioner position. My career goal is to provide primary care and effective patient education that will result in a decrease of morbidities and mortalities.
I have practiced as a registered nurse in a variety of settings. I work at the only level II trauma center in Brevard County, FL, which is designated as a medically underserved area. I spent the majority of my nursing career on a trauma/surgical progressive care unit. A large percentage of our trauma victims were uninsured and required lots of resources. I cared for a lot of patients who were homeless and medically underserved. Many of our patients had chronic cardiovascular diseases. I was very empathetic with my patients, as many of them experienced life-altering, traumatic events. I cared for many trached patients, some who were mechanically ventilated. Many of our patients were long-term, which allowed our patients and family members to become like family. I now work on a cardiac progressive care unit. Many of my patients have coronary artery disease, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, chronic kidney disease, and heart failure. I have the opportunity to provide lots of patient teaching to help decrease the risks of exacerbations and hospital readmissions.
I am compassionate, personable, energetic, organized, and able to multi-task. I have a passion for caring for others. I believe that teamwork helps to increase the quality of care and improve patient outcomes. I am highly motivated and a great team player. I believe that I would make a valuable contribution to your facility. I would be delighted to make the best use of my skills and experience.
I hope that you find it in your heart to consider me as a candidate for a family nurse practitioner position. It would be my pleasure to interview with you. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Kindest regards,
Ashley Hampton, MSN, RN, PCCN
