Developed and deployed identity services for campus. We used three key components to create identity for faculty, staff, and students; a Kerberos authentication service to store passwords, an LDAP directory to store profiles, personalities, and information about users, and a web single sign-on utility based on the Yale CAS model.

Create disaster recovery plans for central IT services so that all services can be operated 7x24 with on-call support teams and operations can be moved off-site in event of a major disaster.

Develop training and support material to help departments deploy technologies for teaching and support staff. Many of the modules describe how to deploy secure web services with authentication and role provisioning. These projects included on-line course development, portal aggregation, creation of discussions group, or blog, servers, and secure web servers.

Assist in developing sales organization based on Sun’s Java Enterprise suite of products. The main components of my job was to train the existing staff how to identify sales opportunities, how to prototype solutions for customers, and how to deliver projects as part of the identity solution deal. As part of this training, we deployed two identity solutions

based on the Sun Java Enterprise Directory server and the Sun Java

Access manager software packages. We also deployed the Directory

server internal to the company as well as the Mail and Calendar servers.

Assisted in getting Epic certified as Sun Reseller for hardware/software.

Develop transitional training material for customers who were migrating from HP-UX to Solaris as well as education material for the sales staff to assist them in identifying and closing sales opportunities relating to hardware and software deals.

Application Developer

2/2002 – 1/2004 Texas A&M University

Developed identification and personalization web services for students, faculty, and staff. Deployed authentication server, portal server, secure web services, and a variety of support functions for the University. The largest project involved working with the Registrar so that students could securely log into a web service and register for classes. The application that we designed needed to be able to support 25,000 concurrent login attempts while maintaining sub second response time. This service also had to be highly available and fault tolerant in the event of hardware or network failures.

Developed test suite based on Eclipse and JUnit testing modules for regression testing and proof of operation. These tests were used to assist in the hardware selection and deployment based on benchmarks that we developed to model the campus environment.

Systems Engineer (levels III, IV, V, and VI)

Created technical sales opportunities for hardware and software products. For the first five years I specialized in hardware and computer architecture. Some of the projects that I worked on involved assisting IT Directors in designing data centers, department solutions, and core services like naming services and mail servers for corporations. For the last eight years I focused on the software side of the company. My responsibilities included porting and tuning customer applications to new operating systems, assisting corporations in migrating from one operating system to another, and developing packaged solutions allowing companies to deploy electronic commerce interfaces for internal and external use. The largest projects that I worked on involved porting the

entire suite of Landmark and Geoquest software to the Solaris operating system and helping British Petroleum to deploy a purchasing and acquisition system allowing smaller companies to efficiently and effectively submit purchase orders.

Published documents internal to Sun; white papers, product positioning, benchmarks, and sales tools. The majority of these white papers analyzeda specific component of the Solaris operating system and discussed tuning tips, performance optimizations, and recommended best practices.

Received numerous awards for excellence: OS Ambassador of the year twice; Systems engineer of the company, area, and region multiple times; Special President’s recognition for OS specialist of the year.
