The customer is a Largest Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) who manages prescription drug programs on behalf of insurance carriers. This is done by setting plans up with different Copayment tiers. The previous process of setting up the CoPay configurations is manual and was a Project oriented approach. It consumed few weeks to several months to complete a bulk CoPay project.
The Benefit Builder is a Copayment (CoPay) configuration system. The purpose of this project is to build a generic platform that allows the business users to run queries based on a list of criteria’s, modify the CoPay configurations, and complete a bulk load for Client Specific and Medicare Part-D Copays. AbInitio BI tool is used to provide the business solution to bulk CoPay loads.

The client is a Fortune 100 company, and it is one of the largest Pharmacy Benefit Management organizations in the United States. The company processes pharmaceutical claims for members at network pharmacies and at their own mail order pharmacies. It provides integrated pharmacy benefit management services including network-pharmacy claims processing, home delivery services, specialty benefit management, benefit-design consultation, drug-utilization review, formulary management, and medical and drug data analysis services to manage drug plans for government agencies (both as administrator of employee benefits and public assistance programs), corporations, and unions.

Responsible for all the deliverables from Benefit Builder development team.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The customer is a Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) who manages prescription drug programs on behalf of insurance carriers. After acquiring another PBM, a decision was made by the Client to use acquired PBMs code-base/processes for future because of its high flexibility and better functionality. A new project is designed to move/migrate the data into this new system in a tiered approach.
The project mainly aims at automating the manual migration of the client data from legacy to the new system. AbInitio BI was chosen to carry out the automation of this migration because of it highly sophisticated transformational abilities.
Each tier migrates the Benefits, Clinical rules, Coverage rules, CoPay configurations and Pricing rates to the new system using AbInitio processes. The development team is responsible for creating the intent/load ready datasets by transforming the data from legacy system to the proposed systems’ compatible format.
Since, the legacy systems are active till the time the new module is completely active, changes may happen to the rules/rates and new system should be updated with these updates as well. The team is also responsible to perform this Dual Maintenance activity. Even if a Tier is live, the team compares the Legacy data and existing data to identify and updates/inserts/deletes through dual maintenance processing and brings the new systems’ data to sync with these updates periodically. So the project actively works on the current Tier migration as wells as the dual maintenance activity related to the migrated tiers.
