Chief Surveyor
Project includes the building and fitting of 1200mm, 900mm GRE pipes and 600mm AC pipes. Key instruments used are GPS, Total Station (Sokkia, Topcon), Theodolite and other level machines.
Key Responsibilities:
Surveying & Setting
Take primary survey to identify alignment of pipeline route.
Fix demarcation points throughout pipeline route which is approved by the Municipality Survey section.
Set Centre line for trench as per approved shop drawing.
Set level and location for thrust block, valves, fitting supports and spindle openings for valve chambers.
Set formation level and coordinates point for valve chambers and check the shuttering, steel details as per approved shop drawing.
Take spot level for road crossing and coordinate with draftsman to prepare shop drawing.
Take coordinate points on exact locations as per site on existing services from Trial holes.
Shift temporary benchmarks to approved existing Municipality benchmarks.
Verification & Assessment
Check formation level and alignment of trench excavation, bedding, pipe laying, and fittings as per shop drawing.
Check alignment and level for micro tunneling, NDRC and Open Steel Sleeve as per approved shop drawing.
Check original ground level and coordinates with draftsman to prepare the profile drawing.
Check Scada ducts, tiles and manhole level and alignment as per approved shop drawing.
Check warning tape alignment and back filling levels as layer by layer as per specification.
Monitoring & Reporting
Monitoring foreman and chain man progress to align with planned schedules.
Report daily work progress to project engineer.
Coordinate with draftsman to prepare set out drawing.
Provide all required details to quantity surveyor to prepare the cut and fill drawing.
Follow up with consultant and client during the site inspection.
Verify existing services with relevant department at site and procure construction NOC from these departments.
