Eastern Michigan University - Ypsilanti, MI
November 2009 to August 2013
Job Duties: During the first two weeks of starting employment at University Health Services on the campus of Eastern Michigan University, the entire staff was trained in their system of Electronic Medical Records. Although I had never worked with EMR in the past, the trainer I was partnered with saw my proficiency with the subject matter and mentioned to the Chief Medical Officer physician that I could become a "super user", one of the highest compliments. The UHS physician's vision of the clinic was to ideally be an Acute Care or Urgent Care medical clinic. Although this was the intent, we still evaluated and treated a variety of internal medicine disease states like asthma, DM, and hypertension, as well as head to toe physical exams, weight loss counseling, smoking cessation visits and a variety of women's health issues (i.e. annual gynecological exams, contraception counseling, STI screening / treatment etc.). Lastly, during my time at the clinic, I became familiar with and attended an in-service specializing in splinting. Adult Nurse Practitioner
Promedica - Clinton, MI
August 2005 to November 2009
Job Duties: This position was similar to my first Adult Nurse Practitioner employment opportunity. The physician's private practice was bought by a large corporation (Promedica- based in OH) and I employment with them. My performance showcased proficiency in communication with fellow staff members as well as patients, with precise history taking and record keeping as well as fine-tuned diagnosing abilities. As a result, I provided thorough evaluation and treatment plans. Additional skills of first assist were obtained through special classes at the nearby Bixby hospital.
