COMBINATION COMMERCIAL INSPECTOR – ICC CHAPTER 1
Performed contract building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, life/safety inspections and other
required inspections on new and renovated school buildings for the SC Department of Education
Office of School Facilities (OSF) and the Office of State Engineer (OSE) whenever needed and
wherever needed inside the state.

SENIOR COMBINATION INSPECTOR –DPCD
Performed building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, life/safety, and other required inspections
on residential, commercial, and industrial construction in assigned areas in the largest city in the
state of Georgia and the 9th largest city in the US. Performed preliminary assessments of fire and
storm damage, investigated complaints.
Note: Resigned from City of Mauldin, SC due to shoulder reconstruction surgery, recovery, and physical
therapy in February 2012 and was physically unable to work for nearly 2 years.
CITY OF MAULDIN, SOUTH CAROLINA – June 2002 to February 2012
BUILDING AND ZONING DIRECTOR
Department head level position under the City Administrator in the 18th largest city in South
Carolina. Supervised a staff of five employees including a Combination Building Inspector,
Building Official/Plan Examiner, Zoning and Property Standards Inspector, Business License
Specialist, and Permit Specialist. Enforced the International Building, Residential, Plumbing,
Mechanical, Fuel Gas, Energy Efficiency, and Property Maintenance Codes, the National
Electrical Code, Mauldin Zoning Ordinance, Municipal Code, Mauldin Floodplain Ordinance,
and other related codes and ordinances. Drafted and implemented new Landscaping and Design
Standards, Storm-water Regulations, Floodplain Regulations, Tree Preservation Regulations, and
Lighting Regulations. Interacted heavily with the Greenville County Planning Commission staff,
and advised the Mauldin Planning Commission. Staffed and advised the Mauldin Building and
Zoning Board of Appeals. Staffed the Mauldin Planning and Economic Development Committee
and Mauldin City Council meetings. Interacted with the Public Works Department, Police
Department, Fire Department, and Recreation Department. Worked with State, County, and
Municipal government agencies and with various elected or appointed officials. Met with citizen
and civic groups to address community issues and concerns.
COUNTY OF GREENVILLE, SOUTH CAROLINA - August 1988 to June 2002
ZONING AND PROPERTY STANDARDS ADMINISTRATOR – March 1996 to June 2002
Supervisory position under the Codes Enforcement Director. In a county of over 400,000 people,
enforced the Greenville County Zoning Ordinance, Sign Ordinance, Environmental Ordinance,
Billboard Ordinance, Junkyard Ordinance, Adult Entertainment Ordinance, Floodplain
Ordinance, and the International Property Maintenance Code. Supervised a staff of six Zoning
and Property Standards Inspectors. Prepared and presented reports and recommendations to the
Greenville County Board of Zoning Appeals and to County Council. Advised the staff of the
Greenville County Planning Commission of the impact of proposed changes to the ordinances.
Met with citizen groups to discuss their concerns and coordinated staff actions to address these
concerns. Served on the Subdivision Advisory Board. Worked with the municipalities and other
governmental entities to coordinate efforts and to aid in related activities.
