Lean Expert, 2005-2007

Trained Six Sigma Greenbelt and Lean Greenbelt candidates and mentored them through certification. Implemented a Kanban system reducing plant inventory by 100k and reduced lead time from 4 days to 1.5 days. Implemented utility savings projects in lighting, compressed air, startup/shutdown procedures, and natural gas that totaled 50k in savings each year. Implemented an oil recycling project for the site that saved 76K a year in spend on oil. Trained employees and Implemented 5S throughout the site. Developed Value Stream Map for site and led Kaizen events for continuous improvement. Implemented numerous defect reduction projects on non-conforming material for the site to lower PPM rates. Achieved Lean Expert Certification.

Managed the 3rd shift plant operations responsible for Safety, Quality, and Production of fifty production and technical employees. Ensured Team met all plant KPI’s. Operations included metal forming and chemical oxidation processes. Motivated and Strengthened team’s performance through promoting an environment of team process and employee involvement.

Operated and maintained a coldformer that produced sparkplug shell components out of rolled steel. Responsible for the quality and production output of the machine. Performed all setups and minor mechanical breakdowns. Maintained SPC charts, logbook, JSA, DCP, and housekeeping for the machine.
