Assisted with technical support for project conversion of Tanker into FSO.

Working mainly from home and Vancouver office as part of a team of other specialists

To create project plans and proposals for hull and conversion and machinery upgrades.

Teekay confirmed awarded the contract for this project recently.

2010-2012

V-SHIPS CANADA

During this time worked intermittently as PM Specialist (checking data bases) also as Fleet Superintendent for docking of a cable ship in UK and tug boat and barge in Canada.

Involved with training for new and updated PM systems both on board and in Montreal office.

Worked summer months as Area Manager for A-P Falmouth Dockyard. Managing repairs to several ships and assisting with apprentice training.

Worked during winter lay-up period for V-ships Canada in Montreal.

Managed maintenance and operations, including dry dockings for bunker barge and tug boat.

Led a team of engineer technicians building and installing data base for a Planned/Preventative Maintenance system on board 2 x 110,000 tons tankers

Teekay Shipping Company 1986-2006

Vessel Manager (2000-2006)

Managed operation and maintenance for up to 6 oil tankers operating worldwide.

Managed major repairs on vessels by identifying the root cause of failures and supplying support, resulting in vessels returning to service with minimum down time.

Assisted with maintenance system upgrade and computer support, including training of office staff and crew, for vessels fleet wide for the purposes of improving onboard routine maintenance.

Led first Teekay dry-docking in Nantong, China, Completed project within budget and

ahead of schedule.

In 2006, appointed as Company representative with Power of Attorney for the sale of 4 vessels managed by Teekay but owned by Chartworld Shipping Company. Each vessel was sold for around $69 million. The sale process went smoothly and successfully.

Technical Manager Y2K Project (1998-2000)

Managed analysis of equipment expected to be susceptible to Y2K issues. Provided advice on possible support required. Company used this opportunity to upgrade computer equipment onboard vessels. Led the deployment and installation onboard and assisted with crew training.

In a 6 month period, managed new networks that were successfully installed on 72 ships worldwide.

The millennium rollover happened without any serious issues occurring.

Chief Engineer (1986-1998)

Chief Engineer on board Tankers, Steam and Motor of various sizes. Managed the operation and maintenance of all machinery and equipment.

Acted as technical supervisor in the final few months of construction of 110,000 ton supertanker at the Onomichi Dockyard in Japan

Assisted with initiation of planned maintenance system fleet wide.

Attended IT training course for this purpose in Washington DC (AmosD).

Continued study for degree in earth Sciences with Open University (UK), by remote study on board ship and during vacation periods.

Involved with training of Engineer Cadets and “ New Hire” Engineers on board ship.

Sanko Marine Company, Tokyo Japan 1976-1986

Chief Engineer

Chief Engineer onboard large tankers trading worldwide. Managed operation and maintenance of all machinery and equipment.

Competed numerous successful dry-docking in various parts of the world.

Took part in analysis and approval of drawings for 2 new building Oil Bulk or Ore (OBO’s) ships. This involved several months working in Tokyo Head Office.

Dear Sir,

Please find attached my resume.

You will note I am an experienced Marine Engineer with training and knowledge of Project Management and Budget Control.

In recent years I have specialized in Computerized Preventative and Planned Maintenance Systems. (CMMS).

Power generation is of course a major part of ships equipment. I am familiar with both motor and steam systems. I have knowledge and repair and maintenance experience for all types of machinery and systems both large and small, mechanical and electrical.

This includes operation and maintenance of refrigeration systems Freon and Ammonia.

I have also worked as manager in unionized situations.

I am a member of the Institute of Marine Engineers and Scientific Technicians and am Registered as Incorporated Engineer with the Engineering Council in UK.

In addition to my CEI/MCA UK qualifications I have Power Engineer 3 in BC and am working on 2nd Class

During previous employment as Vessel manager and Superintendent I became very familiar with Classification and regulatory requirements.

I am familiar of requirements for new building, modifications and repair. This sometimes involved the use of Contractors for specialized situations. I am practiced in safety and operational inspections. I have certification from DNV in ISM Code, including Auditor

Most of my sea going and shore based experience has been with tankers of many types and sizes. This of course involves knowledge and operation of environmental and pollution control.
