I witnessed manufacture testing of major equipment that was to be installed onsite prior to delivery. I witnessed the field verification of site 13.8 kV substation going online and proper phase connections. This was a $550 million mega data center sized at over 470,000 square feet. At the time, it was the largest construction project in the United States.

Coordinate Civic and System jobs with planners’ workload, Southern Bell Communications (now AT&T), Time Warner Cable, and other utilities. Manage material availability for large construction projects. Project manager for large construction jobs related to substations and transmission lines from planning, permits, construction completion, and budget. Manage time sheets for planners and their supervisors. Have had training in managerial skills for Human Resource protocol such as FMLA, employee time entry, and evaluations. Assign jobs to planners in my area. Train and design lighting drawings using AGI, Navigator, and/or Visual to coordinate with the planners work while adhering to CPS, Texas HB 600, and IES standards. Set up design standards for both lighting and spanning calculations for planners to design by for 4, 13.8, and 34.5 kV distribution lines. I used PoleCADD for spanning calculations which is transmission line software, so I had to build my own distribution conductors based upon manufacture specifications of CPS’s approved vendors. Trained planners on how to use and trouble shoot problems with SAP and WMIS, work management. Apply for tree trimming permits using CADD designs on aerial photometry. Design power quality monitoring for substations on voltage, current, and outages. Designs with SEL relay equipment to recognize and transfer load to other circuits in substations. Maintenance upgrades from breakers to potential and current transformers. I designed the removal of electromechanical to be replaced by new SEL microprocessors. Work performed general consisted of field verifying against relay department record and in-office design drawings. As a designer I was to maintain distribution scheduling and budget, develop or update specifications of materials, set out for bid and procure equipment, design all work to be done, do all mocrostation drafting, and coordinate with civil engineering, grounding, relay, and construction departments. Drawings consisted of, one-line, three-line, physical, communications, conduit layout, conduit schedule, wiring diagrams, control house, and to incorporate grounding, civil, and relay settings. I oversaw and planned the construction process to include the outages to be planned and permitted. On the Transmission side of the substation, I worked with 138 and 345 kV systems. As the designer and project engineer, I was responsible for following all NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, ANSI, and ERCOT guidelines.
