Name: - 1) Analysis of drinking water quality of The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda.

Summary: - As a concerned student of M.Sc. (SEM-II) Statistics i took this project entitled “Analysis of Drinking Water Quality” for testing the quality of drinking water provided by our University, under the guidance of prof. V.A.Kalamkar. Our main aim is to help protect Student’s health and maintain student’s confidence in drinking water through independent, effective and proportionate regulation of the quality of drinking water supplies, and by providing independent technical advice on all aspects of drinking water quality. We conducted a survey which provides insight into University student’s current drinking water behavior’s and attitudes towards Facility of Drinking water provided by our University. We had conducted this survey on five faculties of Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, namely, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Commerce, Faculty of Health Community & Science and Faculty of Technology and Engineering with total sample size of 380 students.

Role: - Team Leader.

Result: - We get appreciation in university and media (Newspaper & T.V. news ).

Name :- 2) Applications of statistical techniques to spatial data for extracting vegetational parameters (phenology)

Summary :- Vegetation phenology is highly sensitive to climate change .It has been widely used in studies as key indicator of an ecosystem’s responses to climate change. Satellite remote sensing techniques have potential in capturing changes in vegetation greenness, which can be used in vegetation phenological studies MODerate resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) vegetation indices products such as Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) and Enhanced Vegetation Index (EVI) have been recognized as effective tools in the quantification of vegetation greenness, canopy carbon and water fluxes. These indices have proved its utilitly in monitoring the phenological changes in vegetation across large spatial scales and over long time periods. In the present work an attempt is made to study a long-term vegetation phenology of the Narmada district, Gujarat for Tectona grandis L (saag), Eucalyptus (Nilgiri),T bellerica (Baheda), Mahuda indica (Mahuda), Terminalia chebula (Harde), Dalbergia sisoo (sisoo), Dalbergia latifolia (Sisam), Dendrostrictus (Bamboo), Butea monosperma (kesudo) by using the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) dataset derived from the Global MODIS vegetation indices for 2003-2004 and 2013-2014 years. Also different smoothing techniques are dicussed. After reconstructing the NDVI time series, the start date of the growing season (SOS), the end date of the growing season (EOS), Maximum of the season and the length of the growing season (LOS) were extracted for Tectona grandis L. The response of the variation in phenology with climatic factors was also analyzed. The results showed that the phenology of Tectona in the study area changed significantly between 2003-2004 and 2013-2014 years.

This project was under the guidance of Dr Mangla shah (Prof. at Statistics dept. M.S.U baroda) & Dr. Sandhya Kiran (H.O.D. of Botany dept. M.S.U baroda) was funded project by ISRO to botany dept. where we have successfully completed all the objectives which was proposed in the proposal, we had got the opportunity to work with ISRO scientists in field work of these project .

Result: - We had prepared two research paper for publication.
