Professional Experience
I worked for the University Hospital in San Antonio, Texas from 1995 until retirement 2015 for eight months, however I have since returned two-three days a week. I thoroughly enjoy my job and having accomplished a lot in the past years while working there. I have obtained and kept my CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse Certification), CSC (Cardiac Surgery Certification for nurses), IABP, (intra-aortic balloon pump), VAD (Ventricular Assist Device), current CPR, ACLS (Advance Cardiac Life Support), CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy), one of the first nurses from UHS to obtain the CCTN (Certified Transplant Nurse), just to name a few.
I am a current member of American Association of Critical Care Nurses, American Nurses Association and the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing
I had the opportunity as a CAF (Clinical Adjacent Faculty) for the College of Incarnate Word teaching nursing students in their fourth semester to make the transition from student to nurse. Also, have had the opportunity to work with emersion students.
I have also been fortunate to teach transplant classes for both the University Hospital during my employment and through the Humana Hospital in 1990.
I have a great career that started in 1983 with the first nursing position I obtained as an LPN. I enjoy being a nurse and excited and ready to learn new things.
