“VTTI Crude Tank Terminal in Fujairah, UAE. The VTTI Fujairah Terminal tank farm project aims to build a crude oil storage, processing, and fuel blending facility in Fujairah. The contract budget is USD 94,500,000. The scope of civil works covers the inspection of tanks’ foundations, gas and oil farm, substation building, pumping stations, manifolds building, main containment bound walls, road works, and pipe racks’ foundation. Duties included regularly inspecting construction works to ensure that the contractor abides by the contract and building codes; performing regular surveys to ensure that works are progressing according to plans; coordinating with the contractor to resolve any problems; ensuring that works are carried out in compliance with project procedures; checking approved drawings with all required details and design modifications; observing the project time schedule and meeting target dates.

“Repair of Wharves and Jetties at Mesaieed Port for Qatar Petroleum, Qatar. The project, which involves the Mesaieed Industrial City (MIC), includes various pier and dock repairs, reinforcements, insulation, and coating works. Duties included performing daily inspection attended by the client s representative; verifying sand blasting and epoxy painting for existing reinforcements; witnessing concrete pouring for cope beams using structural repair; inspect pouring for deck slabs and testing the fresh proprietary repair mortar; witnessing the application of shotcrete where required; and inspecting production for precast concrete elements at United Precast Concrete factory

2013–2014: QAPCO s Representative for Inspection & Quantity Surveying Works

“Logistics Terminal Expansion for QAPCO, Qatar. The contract budget is QAR 48,000,000. Duties included observing the approved scope of works, time schedule, budget, quality plan, specifications, drawings, Inspection Test Plan, and quality checklists for all construction activities; performing quantity surveying for all constructed items as mentioned in the bills of quantities; inspecting and monitoring the contractor's performance and ensuring compliance with all contract documentation and drawings; inspect alignment setting out and level survey; witnessing for soil sampling and reviewing the test results for general backfill, sub-base and road-base materials; attending the trial concrete mix; checking slumps and sampling for cubes as per the approved method statement; verifying materials’ approval and receiving at site according to project specifications; coordinating with the construction supervisor about any safety concerns; providing daily, weekly, and monthly reports; reviewing all as-built drawings and issuing them for client approval; and preparing a punch list and following up the closeout of comments and site quality notes.

Main Contractor: China Petroleum Engineering & Construction Corporation. Consultant: ILF Consulting Engineers. Third Party: Germanischer Lloyd. Developer: International Petroleum Investment Company. The scope of Germanischer Lloyd was to deliver a third-party inspection on the services provided for the 400 km crude oil pipeline, intermediate pumping station, and main oil terminal facilities to ensure the quality and integrity of construction works. Duties included verifying approved specifications, drawings, method statements, and the Inspection Test Plan; validating quality metrics and quality checklists for construction activities; approving materials and onsite receipt according to project specifications; witnessing all trial mixes and reviewing test results for approval; witnessing all soil tests results, such as Plate Load Test, MDD and CBR; monitoring construction stages according to approved specifications and drawings; inspecting all civil activities related to buildings, etc. (administration building, control building, substation, workshop and warehouse buildings, fire station, residential and recreational buildings, multipurpose building, swimming pool, and accommodation building); and submitting daily, weekly, and monthly reports to the project management team.

The project includes a car parking area accommodating 920 cars. Developer: Union Properties. Consultant: Burt Hill. Project Manager: Confluence Project Management. Duties included observing bills of quantities, scope of works, and the Procurement Management Plan; preparing procurement documents (e.g. requests for proposals and requests for quotations); determining whether any additional services will be required by the vendor; meeting with potential sellers to allow them to ask questions and receive clarifications about the project, bidding requirements, and negotiating for critical resources; applying selection criteria to select qualified vendors to perform assigned works; conducting negotiations with selected vendors who are required to sign a standard contract that meet the project s procurement requirements; ensuring that the supplier has provided all required products or services; checking site drawings with all required details, and modification in the design; performing quantity surveying for onsite works; and monitoring the progress of subcontractors and suppliers.
