As a member of the DBA 24x7 support team; monitored alerts and supported RAC and non-RAC databases, configured and monitored Data Guard for high availability on windows and Linux servers using command line and OEM, analyzed and created solutions for challenging performance-tuning situations, recovered databases, proactively patched and upgraded databases to latest release, migrated data for upgrades and testing, carried out backups and recovery.
INSTALLATIONS & CONFIGURATIONS
Worked with a great team of DBAs to install Oracle 11gR2 and Oracle 12C on both UNIX/Linux and Windows
Configured databases following the Oracle Optimal Flexible Architecture
Configured RMAN and data pump for backups and data movements
Configured ASM and data guard for high availability
Installed and configured Toad for database management
BACKUP & RECOVERY
Carried out database Backups using RMAN (Full/Incremental backups) and in traditional hot/cold backups.
Also carried out a few user managed backups
Occasionally test backups (restores) to make sure they are valid in a cloned production environment

DATABASE UPGRADE & PATCHING
Worked with teams to carry out upgrades of Oracle from 10g to 11g and recently to 12C using the DBUA and shell scripts
Performed patch analysis to patching exiting databases using OPatch
Performed quarterly patch application (PSU and CPU) for critical bug fixes and security enhancement.

Performed monthly switchover of primary to standby database to test data guard and ensure unplanned fail over scenarios
Installed and configured Golden Gate Replication. Implemented Bi-directional replication using golden gate

Monitored instance and session activities using Toad and OEM
Monitored system access, memory, CPU workload, alerts, lock contention and scheduled jobs
Performed periodic database checks using RDA and documenting system performance for baseline comparison
Carried out database performance tuning using AWR, ADDM, ASH, SQL tuning advisor, explain plan, statistics, blocking sessions, STATSPACK, TKPROF, SQL query restructure and SQL trace.
