Manage a team of engineers in PayPal’s quest for data security, and application security. while taking the Scrum Master responsibility as well.
Work with architects and security policy group to build technical and business standards related to use of data, control of data, and encryption/access to data, and to develop security review process.
Lead the effort of remediating data security violation and providing data security detection and learning capabilities and services that are needed by PayPal businesses.
One success story is that 100+ restricted data fields have been secured in a few months by providing security tools and changing application code (in Java or C++) to use cryptography (HSM, etc).
Drive the effort of building customized security infrastructure and tools that are integrated with CI, CD pipelines to empower PD teams.

Led a team working on Data Rationalization as part of PayPal Re-platforming effort.
The program introduces new ways of organizing PayPal Data and is a building block to enable PayPal long-term availability, scalability, and geo-distribution strategy (for performance, availability, and resiliency improvement, and the ability to meet increased compliance and regulatory requirements).
The successful delivery of Data Rationalization projects was proved to reduce PayPal TPV (Total Payment Volume) % impact from 100% down to 23% when a DB issue occurred in Feb. 2013
Prior to leading a team for the program mentioned above, I had led PayPal Java infrastructure team for almost 2 years as a manager, while also taking the responsibility of Product Owner or Scrum Master.
Built a team of 9 people across different locations.
Led the team to create and maintain a holistic Java environment which includes initialization/configuration framework, and a set of supported libraries, frameworks to enable wide-scale Java adoption at PayPal. It helps to reduce overall cost of developing on the Java stack.

Led the effort designing and implementing different PayPal applications/libraries, web application flows, and backend core services. Development was done on Linux/Windows with Oracle database on the backend using Java/Servlets/Spring Framework, or C++.
As the dev lead in PayPal risk/fraud organization, analyzed, designed, and implemented Account Linking System which has been widely used and been proved to be very useful to admin agents, key risk/fraud check points during payment/checkout flow, and backend risk/fraud detection models.
Led the effort of providing the first prototype of PayPal Platform SOA implementation, and the award-winning Adaptive Payments developer platform.
Delivered different projects such as Yahoo Integration, Yahoo Toolbar, and UK Shipping as part of checkout flow (Integration with Pitney Bowes to create PayPal’s Label Postage and Printing system).
