Program : JLI GROW Mar 2014 – Jun 2016

Shell Jiffy Lube (GROW) is the largest Franchisee-operated Car Service Centre in fast lube Industry, servicing 27 million customers across North America.

GROW (Guest Relationship Optimization Workflow) is a retail Point of Sale Application and store management system that provides a “store in a box” – a full suite of tools to manage the operations of a lubricants and car service outlet. This was a high-profile Program and took 25 months from initiation to closure and was delivered at a cost of $24 Million. The program was initiated to address Asset Integrity issues and to minimize network and security vulnerabilities and transform to a new platform that is scalable and meets the growing demand for digital platform, analytics for business and enhanced customer experience.

Vinod is accountable for end to end delivery of the program by integrating multiple work streams such as Application development, Testing, Cloud intra setup, Architects groups, PMO, IRM, Vendors, Deployment, Data Migration team and support functions. Agreeing on the solution and setting up MS Azure Cloud environment (130 VMs) was the most challenging part. Effectively resolved several challenges during the program to build the base image for successful deploy across 2000 Stores in 9 months.

During 9 months of deployment stores moving to Cloud were planned for delta loads overnight through ETL jobs where the store details were configured for seamless Data migration to cloud. We encountered several challenges in building the capabilities to support 2000 concurrent users trying place orders at the same time and worked closely with Microsoft practice managers and Lead Architects to change the approach to build a feasible and scalable solution that can allow additional 5000 sites to add in future on Azure cloud platform.

We successfully build the Data migration plan and executed seamlessly to move 15TB data for all 2000 stores to Cloud on SQL 2012. It was a complex, time constrained and strategic initiative delivered flawless to customer delight. Responsible for pproviding technical leadership to the team to perform design to deployment related activities, perform reviews and resolve issues in terms of performance, response time and reporting capabilities from an end user stand point.
