Patent

Subject: Network architecture for data transmission

Issued: Jan 16, 2004

Patent number: US CA 2553458

Patent developed to address an issue identified during 9/11 in which multiple client sites used all available bandwidth to stream the same live event to multiple terminals, thus reducing their ability to perform trading. As a result of this patented mechanism, only a single stream was delivered to each facility where customers requested it, and the same stream content was utilized to provide efficient distribution via local multicast. This effort also assured that only authorized users access the local broadcast streams and provided company administrators full control over bandwidth allocation.
