Information Systems Administrator – USA/CAN Business Unit 2012 – 2017
Implementation, management and monitoring of the LAN/WAN infrastructure, applications, security, remote access, telecommunications and server environment within the USA/CAN Business Unit. (The USA/CAN Business Unit consists of one location in Canada and a location in MI, WI, KY, AL and TN. There are twelve sites within those six locations and sales totaling ~ 1.2B.)
Part of the three person team to replace the legacy IBM server infrastructure, throughout the BU, with Cisco’s HyperFlex solution.
Part of the three person team to replace the legacy PBX systems, throughout the BU, with Cisco’s VoIP solution.
Key player in the implementation of the NORIS system (Nemak’s Data and Shop Floor Data Collection System) throughout the BU.

Defined, implemented and managed: Infrastructure, security, compliance, remote access, telecommunication, cell phone, PDA and miscellaneous hardware/software applications; across fourteen sites (located in four countries and three states).
Infrastructure:
oImplemented the new IBM Blade Center, resulting in annual savings of $25,000.
oImplemented the new corporate NetApp SAN.
oWorked with vendor to design and install private fiber between WI production facilities.
oReplaced all Cisco LAN/WAN hardware in the North American facilities.
oReplaced the cabling infrastructure at two US facilities from Token-Ring to Ethernet Cat 6.
oReduced WAN service providers from three to one. (Increased bandwidth at no additional cost)
oDesigned and managed construction of the corporate Data Center, providing space for all computing platforms, conditioned power, generator backup, structured cable management, HVAC and secure access. The centralized facility greatly improved the infrastructure, speed, reliability and reduced maintenance costs.
oImplemented WAN connections to locations in the US, Mexico, Spain and the UK.
Applications:
oUpgraded the Citrix environment to XenApp v4.5 on an IBM Blade Center utilizing Citrix XenServer as the virtualization environment.
oImplemented VPN connections on the FW allowing vendors access to the JL French network.
oImplemented Cisco’s Call Manager Express at the Distribution Center in WI.
oUpgraded Windows NT and Exchange 5.5 Server to Windows 2003 and Exchange 2003 Server. This resulted in enhanced security and stability for the JL French server and e-mail environments.
oImplemented Exchange 5.5 in the Mexico, Spain and UK locations.
oExtended the JL French domain to include the Spain and UK locations.
oImplemented SPAM deterrent solution, reducing spurious e-mail traffic by 80%.
oLed project to upgrade the Wisconsin ERP and Financial packages.
Telecommunications:
oImplemented new phone and voice mail system which provided greater flexibility, more robust features and improved employee productivity.
oReduced cell phone providers from two to one, resulting in an annual savings of $100,000.
