Accomplishments
- Developed and managed project to reduce the environmental, health and safety issues; along with costs; associated with the use of nitric acid for passivation of stainless steel alloys
- Qualified coating alternatives for launch structures that reduced the need for extensive maintenance after each launch to after every fourth launch resulting in tremendous cost savings
- Performed a Depainting Pollution Prevention Opportunity and Needs Assessment (PPONA) for Space Launch Complex (SLC) 17 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station (CCAFS)
- Brought together NASA and the Florida Solar Energy Center to evaluate anti-soiling coatings for photo-voltaic panels to improve efficiency and reduce required maintenance
