Purchasing/Operations Management:
As Manager – Purchasing and Supply Chain Process, was solely responsible for maintaining the entire CSX Oracle electronic purchasing catalog of over 20,000 stock control numbers. This included adding new items, and all changes, terminations and reactivations of existing items in support of procurement and material personnel across the entire organization. Additional responsibilities included daily resolution of all supplier issues on behalf of purchasing and material personnel related to invoicing, order management and payment for a supply base representing hundreds of CSX suppliers.
As Procurement Manager – Mechanical, supported the internal customers of CSX Car Management, CSX Mechanical – Car, and CSX Material Managers across the entire CSX System.
Initiated, drafted, negotiated, implemented and administered multimillion dollar, multiyear contracts with multiple suppliers for mechanical services, new freight car purchasing, and freight car materials purchasing in support of daily operations that resulted in annual savings that varied from $3M to more than $16M per year.
Regularly prepared Requests for Information (RFIs) and Requests for Proposal (RFPs) from multiple suppliers for products and services, then reviewed and analyzed the resulting proposals to provide recommendations to internal customers and senior management for further actions resulting in contract awards.
Developed close working relationships with internal customers and suppliers that enabled quick action if required to prevent or correct issues that might result in lost production. Acted as liaison between suppliers and internal customers to coordinate resolution of quality, delivery, specification or pricing issues.
As Procurement Manager – Work Equipment, negotiated lowest price for new on track equipment as part of the Work Equipment annual capital budget process, and resolved all issues between Work Equipment suppliers and internal customers quickly to minimize lost production.
As Procurement Manager - Vehicles and Forklifts, was responsible for the purchase, lease, and daily administration and management of fleet of more than 5000 company trucks and 300+ forklifts.
Developed an annual capital vehicle replacement plan and budget, then adjusted the plan to fit the final capital amount awarded to ensure the replacement priorities of internal customers were met. The annual capital budget varied from $12M to $32M.
Coordinated and managed the ordering, upfitting, titling/licensing and delivery of all new vehicles and the timely disposal of all retired vehicles.
Negotiated discounts and contracts for new vehicles, replacement parts, maintenance services, vehicle titling/ licensing, rental vehicles and equipment, and fleet management services that resulted in savings for new vehicles, equipment, forklifts and vehicle maintenance. Acted as liaison between suppliers and internal customers to coordinate resolution of quality, delivery, specification or pricing issues.
Established and wrote vehicle and forklift specifications with internal customers to ensure resulting vehicles and forklifts met the needs of CSX and still remained in compliance with local, state and federal regulations.
As Dispatcher – CSX Intermodal Trucking Operations, managed and was responsible for the daily productivity of up to 60 truck drivers making pick ups and deliveries in support of intermodal operations at three different locations utilizing multiple ports, yards and rail terminals.

Project Development:
Managed the analysis, justification, preparation, bid process, and final award of a four year, multimillion dollar contract for vehicle fleet maintenance, accident and fuel management with a Fortune 500 company. It involved a complete process change for the entire vehicle fleet and internal customers from every CSX department. Developed an implementation plan and managed the successful transition from the previous procedures to the new procedures.
