Research Experiences:
Research Assistant. Dr. Tamaro Hudson Research Lab- Howard University Washington DC. Summer 2014
The Lab focus on characterization of the biological effects of natural compounds on prostate cancer using in vitro and in vivo models to target novel molecular products. The Lab was able to show that MSKE (muscadine grape skin extract) inhibits prostate cancer cell lines including LNCaP by targeting biological markers (AR, HSP90, and HSP70) involved in the androgen-mediated pathway
Research Assistant. Dr. Rebecca L. Seipelt. Middle Tennessee University Murfreesboro TN Summer 2007
Leukotriene A4 Hydrolase is localized in Norman and Inflamed, Invasive Cancerous breast tissue, normal thyroid tissue, and mouse joint tissue. In this research, we investigated the effect on Leukotriene A4 hydrolase (LTA4H) in attracting immune cells to the joints space, which results in the formation on the granulation tissues that are characteristic of rheumatoid arthritis. We used different tissues in this investigation, prepared slides using two IHC method; chromogenic single antibody localization, and fluorescent single antibody localization for LTA4H proteins. Method of in situ hybridization was used to ensure adequate antibody binding and staining of tissue sections. The conclusion was that Human thyroid tissue cells express LTA4H, with tumorigenic areas greatly expressing higher levels. Normal human breast cells produce LTA4H in abundance, which appears to decrease significantly in inflamed, abnormal and in tumor breast tissue.
Human Puromycin – Sensitive Amino peptidase mRNA is alternatively processed. My team investigated if human puromycin-sensitve aminopeptidase (NPEPPs) is alternatively spliced in different tissues? We utilized polymerase chain reaction primers designed to amplify potentially alternative regions as well as reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction to identify the gene on each human mRNA samples.
