Professional Experience
Research Assistant June 2015 – August 2017
University of New Hampshire Durham, NH
Participated in “Specialized Purification of Hemoglobin from Source Verified Bovine Blood” project.
Provided research support including conducting literature reviews, collecting and analyzing data, maintaining accurate records, summarizing project results, and preparing reports after each experimental rounds.
Optimized the blood collection
Removed fibrin with swirling in orbital shaker allowing blood clots contraction then transfer liquid fraction through three steps in-line filters system.
Developed the diafiltration process to wash the cells. Optimize diafiltration performance at different feed flow rate the trans-membrane pressure.
Lyse red cells by swelling the cells using osmotic pressure.
Purified and concentrated the hemoglobin freed during RBCs lysing by 100kD and 30kD ultrafiltration.
Undergraduate Research Assistant July 2012 – January 2013
Bach Khoa University (formerly Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology) Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
Researched the application of ultrasound to improve the efficiency of the hydrolysis of cassava starch up to 30%.
Analyzed basic materials such as determining the moisture content; particle size using SEM; total starch content: solute starch content, amylose/amylopectin content; reducing sugar content; and cyanogenic potential.
Ultrasound treatments on 35% starch suspensions with different values of ultrasonic temperature, time treatment, and intensity.
Enzyme treatment with Termamyl 120L (α-amylase) and Dextrozyme GA (γ-amylase) to hydrolyze the starch suspension to obtain reducing sugar solution.
Determined reducing sugar concentration of samples taken along the hydrolysis process using dinitrosalicylic (DNS) acid method.
Quality Assurance Lab Technician June 2012 – August 2012
Binh An Wheat Flour Joint Stock Company Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
Conducted quality sampling from production line and warehouses for control testing.
Analyzed wheat and flour basic physical properties: moisture content, ash content, protein contents, falling number, flour color analysis, sedimentations.
Examined dough and gluten strength using Farinograph, Extensigraph, Mixograph.
