JOB DESCRIPTIONS
● Patient communication and preparation including removal of garments or jewelry that may interfere with procedure and explaining how the process works.
● Positioning patients properly to obtain x-rays, CT scans, MRI scans, or mammograms
● Setting the equipment to obtain the best density, detail, and contrast of the area being imaged.
● Taking preventative steps to avoid unnecessary exposure to radiation.
● Applying their knowledge of anatomy and physiology to the process in order to help the physician diagnose problems.
● Must be able to closely follow physician instructions, prepare radiography equipment, position patients, and obtain optimal images for diagnosis.
● Must be able to communicate calmly, compassionately, and professionally with all different types of patients including the elderly, ailing, and handicapped DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Validates doctors’ instructions on the type of examination to be done; sets schedules and coordinates preparation for examinations to be conducted with the patient and Nurse on duty.
2. Provides briefing and orientation to out-patients on the preparation required for radiologic examinations that they will undergo.
3. Prepares oral contrast to be used in the course of radiologic procedures. 4. Performs radiologic procedures such as MRI, CT Scan, mammography, and ultrasound; inserts line with IV injection if contrast is needed. 5. Ensures preventive measures are undertaken to prevent assisting relatives of patients from being exposed to hazards of radiation.
6. Assist the Radiologist/ Sonologist in performing interventional studies like abdominal, chest biopsies, paracenthesis and thoracenthesis.
7. Processes exposed films, checks the radiograph, and submits outputs for the interpretation of the Radiologist.
8. Records and releases results of examinations conducted on the basis of proper authorization; retrieves films and examination results from doctors and hospital staff who borrowed the same.
9. Maintains filing of films and examination results. 10. Prepares charges slips covering procedures undertaken for incorporation into the patients’ statement of accounts.
11. Maintain required supplies and prepares requisition for replenishment of depleted stocks.
12. Maintains equipment, undertakes basic trouble shooting repair during minor malfunctions; refers other requirements on maintenance repairs to the Medical Equipment Engineer.
13. Prepares monthly reports on activities and operations of the work unit. 14. Prepares weekly planner on activities to be undertaken and prepares reports on actual results, outputs and accomplishments based on plans at the end of the week; consolidates accomplishment reports into monthly performance reports. 15. Undertakes work activities in conformity with the institutional guidelines on safety and infection control.
16. Attends training programs and learning sessions for the enhancement of professional, technical, and personal proficiencies.
