EDUCATION
BS, Mechanical Engineering, BYU-Idaho, Rexburg, ID Anticipated Graduation April 2018
● GPA 3.2 – Attending full time while working part-time to pay for school.
● Applicable completed courses: Fluid Dynamics, Finite Element Analysis, Thermodynamics, Machine Design, Product Design, Mechatronics, Mechanical Design, Physics 1 & 2, Strengths of Materials, Statics & Dynamics, Multivariable Calculus, Differential Equations
● Participated in Sounding Rocket Design Team
(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mtJtryPZEO0). My team and I designed and tested the rocket recovery system to launch parachute without damage at apogee of rocket flight (5000ft tgt).
● Took and passed certification for SolidWorks 3Dcad (Fall ’14), FEA (Fall ’15), and drafting (Spring ’17). Have over 1,000 hours experience in SolidWorks.
● Proficient in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) per ANSI Y14.5.
● Practical skill and knowledge with ANSYS Finite Element Analysis program.
● Experience with CNC programming for mill, lathe, and plasma machines for practical knowledge of tooling design and limitations.
WORK
Irrigation Engineer Intern: Rumsey Engineering, Rexburg, ID 2016-Present
● Conducted efficiency testing on farm irrigation systems by measuring flow rates, pressures, and power consumption.
● Evaluated irrigation systems by using pump curves in conjunction with water head and pressure calculations.
● Calculated estimated costs, incentive, and payback period for customers to repair/improve their system.
● Presented data to customers and options to improve efficiency (replace/pumps, pivots, hoses, nozzles, sprinkler heads, etc.).
Secretary/Media Specialist: BYU-I Disability Services, Rexburg, ID 2015-2017
● Managed relationship between Hard-of-Hearing students and transcribers (those who take notes for them during class.
● Reviewed all media & class transcriptions and then delivered to the disabled student.
● Facilitate information from college professors and students with the department. OTHER EXPERIENCE
Volunteer Engineer: Rexburg LDS Temple 2017
● Facilities management consisting routine checks on power consumption, humidifier levels, pump gauge pressures, boilers, and water pH levels.
Statics Mentor: BYU-Idaho Mechanical Engineering Department 2015-2016
● Worked closely problem solving with over 30 students to help achieve understanding of statics 3 times a week.
Volunteer Representative in Los Angeles, CA: LDS Church 2012-2014
● Lead, trained, and directed over one hundred volunteer men and women in leadership, teaching, training, and working effectively.
PROJECTS
Curved Bending Stress on a Climbing Carabiner: BYU-I Mechanical Engineering Results:
● Performed a tensile test for a curved beam in bending stress on a climbing carabiner.
● Experimentally confirmed text book max stresses, location of failure, and found that strength of carabiner in open gate position is 6 kN.
Wire Rope Strength Analysis: BYU-I Mechanical Engineering Results:
● Performed a tensile test of a wire cable over a sheave.
● Finite element analysis confirmed deflection of individual wires and the phenomenon known as “bird- caging.”
