To whom this may concern:

Hello, my name is Simrat Kahlon. After coming across your company website I became interested in the many departments in your company. I believe that with my past experiences I would be a great fit an entry level position. I am a recent graduate of Masters of Biotechnology program at the University of Guelph and I am available for full-time work in as soon as needed. I have an undergraduate degree in Life Science with a minor in Biochemistry from McMaster University. In September 2016 I began my Masters of Biotechnology program, which provided courses that highlight many research techniques used in the pharmaceutical and therapeutics industry. I have also enhanced my abilities to read current scientific literature and present this information in a sophisticated and informative manner. The theme of my master’s program research is antibacterial drug discovery, which is conducted in the Clarke lab at the University of Guelph. To conduct my research, I use microbiology and biochemical techniques such as protein purification by centrifuge and fast protein liquid chromatography. Other techniques I am familiar with are gel electrophoresis, antiseptic techniques, high-throughput screening, and column chromatography. Furthermore, as a research assistant in the Lazarus lab at St. Michaels hospital I worked with murine models to assess potential monoclonal antibodies as therapeutics for Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura. From this experience, I became familiar with blood collection and plasma extraction by centrifugation. I have experience administration medication to murine models through intravenous injection, intraperitoneal injection and subcutaneous injection. During my tenure at St. Michaels hospital I have achieved authorship on a manuscript in preparation as highlighted in my resume. Throughout my laboratory experience I was consistently placed in quality assurance roles such as testing for purity of compounds and insuring that equipment was functional and regularly cleaned. Throughout the course of my undergraduate program, I have taken a number of courses that I feel are relevant to the nature of your company, including Biochemistry, Physiology, Biology, Statistics, Mathematics, and Chemistry and Physics courses. These courses have developed my in-lab, research and analytical skills.

My other current endeavors volunteering as a research assistant under Dr. Silverman who is the Director of the Pediatric Lupus Clinic at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto and as a patient coordinator at Bayshore Home Health. At Sick Kids Hospital, my duties include data input, managing health records and assessing trends in long-term patients. At Bayshore home health my duties include handling patient concerns, Ability to assess diagnosis and assign correct field staff for the patients’ needs and responding to urgent and life-threatening situations with calm and effective approach.

Through my numerous experiences, I have gained strong familiarity with laboratory techniques and procedures. I am also very familiar with the healthcare industry. I look forward to the opportunity to further discuss my qualifications with you. Thank you for your consideration. Thank you,

Simrat Kahlon
