Publications
Medical Image Analysis (UG Final Year Project May 2016):
Varun Krishnan et. all; “Medical Image Analysis for Bone Fracture Detection” ISSN: 2455-2631; Paper ID: IJSDR1606006.
oThe program developed in MATLAB demarcates faults in the bone structure, such as hairline injuries and fractures using image analysis. The input is an X-Ray image in jpeg format. Also incorporated a theoretical approach using Computer Vision to make the system cognitive.
Work Experience
InterpretOmics, Bangalore, India
Machine Learning Research Intern
Dec 2014 – Jan 2015
Developed SVM code in Java, data handling and visualizing scripts in Python and R respectively. Used LibSVM library to construct a kernel based on probabilistic graph model that predicted the chance of a cancer cell being benign. The working environment used was Ubuntu. Tested kernel performance on real time data retrieved from hospitals. Basic kernel design returned accuracy of 85%.
SRM University, Chennai, India
Faculty Research Assistant
Aug 2013 – Nov 2013
Part of a 3-student team working under a faculty to design an SDN topology based on OpenFlow controller to minimize latency. The topology was designed in Python and results were tested over Wireshark and the environment used was Ubuntu. The topology was successfully developed and presented to a panel of university faculty.
Academic Projects
Machine Learning Algorithms Comparative Analysis (Spring 2017):
oDesigned code in R to perform comparative analysis of various main supervised learning algorithms. Used a criminal data set available on Kaggle to study the difference in run time and predictive accuracy. The data set holds homicide records from 1980-2014 with over 600,000 entries. Algorithms used: Naïve Bayes, Support Vector Machine, Artificial Neural Network, Logistic Regression. SVM yielded best results.
Web Application Xtrm Coach (Fall 2016):
oDeveloped a web application using AngularJS and MySQL, for coaches to perform evaluation and analysis of players’ performances based on their stats recorded. Evaluation may be done against predefined or custom parameters. Used AGILE methodology and implemented REST server, unit, and integration tests.
