Develop and implement global sourcing strategies for raw materials. Supported the export capability of foreign chemical manufacturers to successfully penetrate the US marketplace for raw materials in tight domestic supply. Cut cost of approx. $ 10MM over 5 years on rarely available raw materials.

Day-to-Day procurement responsibilities:

Identify, Evaluate & select suppliers through marketplace sourcing, assess suppliers’ capabilities, create RFQ and statement of work documents, review and tabulate proposals, manage risk, negotiate short and long term supply agreements, Prepare and issue purchase orders, streamline procurement procedures, & Scorecard suppliers performance for price, delivery, and quality, communicate project updates to pertinent stakeholders, coordinate the flow of technical information required for project completion, coordinate site walk-throughs, inspections, and/or installations with the engineering team, and resolve billing discrepancies, coordinate contract milestones reviews, production schedules, drawings, and specifications for user approvals, resolve discrepancies of material specifications, short shipments, damaged goods, payment terms, etc. Maintain and report, to management, spend and supply commitments, assists in resolving issues pertaining payables and disputes, maintains a database of Certificate of Insurance for contractor and service providers, CDA’s and NDA’s & monitor inventory level of critical raw materials. In addition, I manage the Procurement SharePoint site, Contract Lifecycle management (CLM), and manage dozens of miscellaneous agreement to achieve highest YOY cost reduction. Ex. facility management, Scaffolding rentals, crane and material handling rentals, warehousing, Security and Alarm detection agreements, uniform rental and service, rail road de-icing and repair, etc.

Engineering Experience Aug 1984 – Dec 1988.

Started my career at Emerson Electric in Santa Anna, CA as a Power Electronics Project Engineer supporting manufacturing, and technical pre-sales and marketing, Converted customers demand specifications into engineering controlled documents, created system design drawings and budgetary sales proposals, recommended and sized battery bank for energy storage to mitigate brown-out and black-outs. (85-87). Was laid off and took opportunity with Elgar Electronics Corp. in San Diego, CA as Power Electronics Project & Application Engineer, Nuclear IE Classification (7 months. in 1987). Then joined a private company in Africa as a Business General Manager managing up to 24 employees. Was not a good fit due to living conditions? Then returned to the USA and joined Teledyne Inet as Power Electronics Application Engineer in Torrance, CA (87-88). Worked with the VP of sales & marketing on engineering projects from the front end engineering stages through project bidding and well into manufacturing and delivery of complete power solutions. Took time off to get married (2.5 months). Then took a management opportunity with PromoSystems, Inc. (a full service export trading and consulting corporation)
