GUTTMAN ENERGY, BEL AIR, MD 2000 – 2017

Database Software Engineer

Developed and maintained an MS Access/SQL Server application that ran the day-to-day business of an energy supplier in the Mid-Atlantic area. Guttman Energy is headquartered in Belle Vernon, PA and the office in Bel Air, MD joined with Belle Vernon in August 2006.

Achieved 100% continuous availability on the MS Access/SQL Server system that kept the business running. This was achieved by doing whatever was needed to ensure the system ran as fast and efficiently as possible, adding indexes to tables, breaking up complex stored procedures, etc.

Achieved a 95% decrease in processing time in billing after successfully converting all MS Access queries in the billing system to T-SQL stored procedures under SQL Server 2000 thereby slashing billing time from 40 sec. per transaction to 2 sec. per transaction.

Successfully developed the SLATES subsystem; 1) which controlled the purchase of energy products through the pipeline 2) established the delivery schedule to the customers which were major suppliers in the area 3) kept track of inventory of all products, gasoline, diesel fuel, etc. 4) and accounted for the transfers of those products and the fees associated with the transfer of those products.

Successfully developed the Inventory Transfer subsystem which transferred product from one source, profit center to another source and profit center and accounted for all the costs per gallon for those transfers.

Re-architected the original SQL Server Database and was working on creating a data warehouse utilizing SSIS to ETL the data warehouse before my position was eliminated. Was also learning and utilizing SSAS to analyze the data warehouse cubes along with SSRS to report on the re-architected database and the data warehouse.

• Re-architected the MS Access 2003/SQL Server 2005 application utilizing Visual C# 201x, ASP.NET MVC 3, Rockford Lhotka's Component-based Scalable Logical Architecture (Csla), SQL Server 2012, SQL Server 2012 Reporting Services and data annotations for business logic and rules. The application was totally Object-Oriented and had a Web front-end utilizing ASP.NET MVC 3 utilizing HTMLx/CSSx and jQuery plug-ins. The application is an Enterprise level application that has all information pertaining to the running of a fuel delivery business and futures and options trading.

• Initially started going down the Silverlight-Wcf/Ria Services path utilizing Telerik Controls, however, after reading the writing on the wall, focus was redirected to the ASP.NET MVC path as Microsoft decided on another route than Silverlight.
