ElectroMaterials is a start up R&D company focused on developing activated carbon-carbon composite, also called nanoporous carbon composite (NCC), for applications as electrodes for electrochemical devices. The development consists of process development of NCC, product development of prototype electric double layer capacitors (EDLC), electrode assembly for lead carbon capacitor/battery hybrids and lead acid batteries. 2003-2008 Senior Chemist, ElectroMaterials LLC, Holyoke, Massachusetts. Invented activated carbon-carbon composite and carried out its material and electrochemical characterization.

1997-2003 Senior Chemist, Aspen Systems, Inc., Marlboro, Massachusetts, Principal investigator of programs in advanced composite structures and liquid crystalline epoxy. As team member, participated in a number of projects. Co- inventor of polyimide aerogels, carbon aerogels, and metal carbide aerogels. 1994-1996 Visiting Scientist, National Institute of Materials and Chemical Research, Tsukuba, Japan.

Studied the epitaxial polymerization of an aromatic polyester on various crystalline substrates.

1992-1993 Postdoctoral Research, Monsanto Chemical Company, Springfield, Massachusetts.

Participated in developing continuous polymerization process of ABS, carried out monomer synthesis and material characterization. Languages English, Chinese, and Japanese.
