ADVANCED HEALTH ASSESSMENT – FEB 2016 TO APR 2016
Primary Care with adult, pediatric and women’s health populations.
Pediatric rotation conducted in Odessa Regional Medical Center Complete Care Pediatric clinic under the guidance of a Family Nurse Practitioner.
Women’s Health conducted at Austin Maternal Fetal Medicine.
Internal Medicine conducted with an FNP and Internal Medicine Physician at New Braunfels Osteoporosis Center.
The focus of these rotations was to observe & conduct comprehensive and problem-focused assessments of all patient populations and discuss the management of acute & chronic primary care & specialty conditions.
DIAGNOSTIC METHODS – JUN 2016 TO JUL 2016
Surgical/Trauma ICU at San Antonio Military Medical Center (SAMMC).
Under Acute Care Nurse Practitioners (ACNP) guidance, utilized ultrasound to place radial arterial lines, observed the placement of centrally inserted IV catheters and chest tubes.
Conducted daily rounds with Trauma team, presented selected patients to Attending Physician during morning and afternoon rounds.
The focus of clinical rotation was to develop a deeper understanding of interpreting diagnostic tests, such as Computed Tomography, Ultrasound, and X-rays.
ADULT/GERONTOLOGY ACUTE CARE I – SEP 2016 TO NOV 2016
Surgical/Trauma/Neuro ICU at SAMMC
Assisted with the management of multiple, critically-ill trauma patients; Presented patients during morning and afternoon rounds, reviewed labs, diagnostics and formulated daily care plans with staff Physicians and ACNP.
With ACNP, performed assessments on trauma patients in the Emergency Department, assisted with developing treatment plans, writing admission orders or discharging to home after immediate needs and/or consults completed.
With Neurosurgery ACNP, observed and assisted with post-operative follow-ups in clinic and observed neurosurgical procedures & interventions, such as the placement of external ventricular drainage (EVD) and intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring devices.
Internal Medicine at Shannon Family Practice, San Antonio, TX.
Under the guidance of an FNP, conducted patient interviews & assessments, reviewed labs and diagnostics, and discussed the management of acute and chronic primary care health problems commonly seen in an outpatient or clinic environment.
The focus of clinical rotation was to gain experience in a clinic-based Internal Medicine and Hospital based practice.
ADULT/GERONTOLOGY ACUTE CARE II – JAN 2017 TO MAY 2017
Surgical/Trauma ICU at SAMMC.
Continued to practice as primary provider under ACNP guidance and supervision; presenting multiple patients during morning and afternoon rounds to Trauma Staff physicians.
Post-Acute Medical Center & Kirkland Manor Rehabilitation Center, New Braunfels, TX
Under supervision of ACNP, reviewed health histories and performed assessments of multiple patients in a long-term acute care center and rehabilitation facility, discussed the challenges of managing long-term, chronic health problems in adult & geriatric populations.
The focus of this clinical rotation was to continue gaining experience in Hospital based practice.

Surgical/Trauma ICU at SAMMC
Continued to work with multiple Acute Care Nurse Practitioners & Residents within the ICU setting. Presented patients during rounds and assisted with the management and daily care of multiple patients.
Cardiothoracic/Medical ICU at Christus Santa Rosa New Braunfels, TX
With guidance of an Intensivist and ACNP, observed and discussed the treatment & management of post-operative coronary artery bypass graft and critically-ill medical patients in a community hospital. With Intensivist, would report to the Emergency Department when there was a consult for a new ICU admission, assessing patients and discussing immediate and potential medical needs.
The focus of this rotation was to focus on the preparation of transitioning to an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) within a hospital-based setting.

Oct 2016 to present - Critical Care Air Transport Team (CCATT)/Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) Specialist; assists with the initiation, transport and direct patient care of critically-ill patients requiring ECMO services. Assist Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS) and Hospital Educators in teaching ACLS and Critical Care scenarios to hospital staff.
433RD MEDICAL SQUADRON, LACKLAND AFB, SAN ANTONIO, TX
Oct 2012 to Oct 2016 - CCATT/Medical Readiness Officer; Responsible for training MDs/RNs/Respiratory Therapists in transporting critically-ill patients on various military aircraft, in order to maintain operational capability. Taught critical care concepts in both live in-flight and ground-based exercises. As medical readiness training officer, established and evaluated medical training in areas of triage, emergency/critical care, and self-aid and buddy care (SABC).
